a wwyd re: fellow livery issue

Oh dear a do gooder, why sure an instructor if she has totally different goals? only too pleased for her to barefoot trim etc, great sorry mine has shes. Your horse your thing but her thing everyone's... No. Ignore ....

You obviously need to be very adult and mature about this, keep very calm, take a big breath...........then kick her straight in the Foof, with a "plenty of more where that came from" comment added just at the right moment, timing is everything, you could mention that "in the wild", that's how horses would sort out their differences, being into Natural Horse Methods, she will appreciate the lesson, it's very doubtful she will bother you again.

Funniest post ever!

Agree with last 2 posts-just laugh/smile & ignore. She sounds pretty childish so treat her like that-if you take her seriously she'll think she's got something valid to say!

Or just gaze at her with an utterly blank expression and a slightly furrowed brow as she goes on. Without ever saying anything.

People like that are like mosquitos. Small and inconsequential but annoying as (&^(*.

Get a few people together and re-enact that really annoying song from the mobile phone advert about letting things go. Revenge by earworm is always good.

I'd probably walk up to her and say, "shall we just go on a date and get it over with?" When she asks what on earth you are talking about, say, "well you clearly fancy me as you keep asking everyone questions about me so why don't you just ask me? It would save you a lot of trouble! "

Then smile and just stare silently at her until she apologises.

Sounds exactly like the issues I had when I moved yards 12 months ago, and also had issues with the horse regarding hoof problems and recurring lameness and there was one particular person who was always in my face, giving pearls of wisdom and gossiping about me to other people because I like to do my own thing and I don't go around spilling my guts to everyone on the yard (I'm somewhat of an enigma!! ;-) ). At first I tried to grin and bare it, but I was SO miserable I almost considered moving again.

One day I was loading up to go to a lesson and the horse (going through his kevin the teenager phase) planted on the ramp right in front of this woman, who advised me to put a broom up its backside. At this stage I told her when she pays my livery, vets fees and everything else she can tell me what to do with my horses, until then mind your own (insert appropriate word) business. She took great offence to this and didn't speak to me for about six months, until her horse had colic and I was the only other person on the yard to help (which I did). She now speaks and is pleasant enough and vice versa but she doesn't offer her opinion on everything now! She might think it, but she doesn't say it :-)

If I were you though I would have a quiet word with your instructor, if you don't want her discussing your business then politely say so. The other woman may have lead her to believe you're great mates, she seems the type from what you've said.

Thank you all for all your advice, did potter about round the yard today smiling at the thought of a hoofing and a dunking lol.
Did consider whether I was being over sensitive, but now realise this really isn't normal.
Next time she makes a comment I will ask her (in a fairly polite way) why she feels the need to give me unwanted instructions on my horses care, if things then turned nasty then I will have a word with the YO as I refuse to leave the yard because of this.
Thanks again x

HHO advice of the year :D

take your boots off as she likes barefoot and go and kick her ass barefooted of course.then politley tell her that millions of years ago people didnt wear things on their feet or clothes for that matter.then smack her bare handed of course and bare knuckle fight her to the ground.tell her to mind her own **** ing business and that nosey do gooders get whats coming to them.

Ive had a couple of run ins with women like this. Much as it would be really nice to slap them , they would love that. The resulting attention they would get and the glory of being a victim is what they do it for im sure. All i do is avoid and if thats not possible ignore. Its not horses that need blinkers at livery yards its people.
