mad.gif
My saddle, bridle, lunging equipment, front boots (they left the back boots??), new flourescent excersise sheet, my be nice halter
mad.gif
, and 99% of my numnahs have all been taken!! There's other stuff missing as well and some of the liveries have had their tack nicked too
mad.gif

Police have been. but I don't hold out much luck of seeing my tack again
frown.gif

The good part is they didn't touch the horses, so at least that's something.

Oh no, how terrible. I really feel for you.

Its not always just the fact that things have been taken, but also the fact that they have been through your things. Some people eh.

Big hugs xx

What absolute a holes. Is there anything you need? Rugs etc?

Glad the hroses are ok.

Thanks but believe it or not they tossed aside the rambo in the box to get to the lunging equipment!!! They also left my brand new leather headcollar and heavy leather lunging canvass. It doesn' make sense what they took and left??

Yes, thank god they left the horses, but I'm still nervous about leaving her there

Ahhh thats terrible akelly , Did you have your tack insured ? Not that I have any of my stuff insured but I did have my last saddle insured .

You just dont think things like this can happen unfortunately there is absolute twats out there that get pleasure in doing this sort of thing . Glad horses are all ok , still I know it doesnt help your mental state (((hugs))) Whats your situation at your yard ? Is it your own yard ? livery yard ? Does YO live on the yard ? Is there anything that can be done to secure the yard more ?

How horrid for you, if you need anything let me know, I have a spare saddle/bridle (large size saddle) if you are really stuck.

That's terrible. Kids have pinched stuff from our yard and people have seen them walking around in the village with it before and it makes me so angry
mad.gif
. Thieves are so scummy

How awful for you all.

I'm always amazed that Yard Owners allow people to keep their tack on the yard. We were never allowed to in our old place because of the risk of a break in and theft.

Hope the insurance pays out quickly for you.

That's really bad luck, sorry to hear you got burgled. A word of caution, you need to sort out your security arrangements before leaving new tack at the yard. Typically the burgulars will be back in a couple of months when they know that there's new tack available! The same happened at my yard. Luckily they didn't get any tack the second time as we'd got a secure container. Hope you manage to get your insurance to pay up.

B****ds!
Having been a victim several times when we lived elsewhere it's the most horrible feeling to see stuff gone. You sort of look twice then it slowly dawns on you that what you're seeing is happening.
I marked all my stuff after the first time, all headpieces had three smallest size holes punched in the top where no-one could see them when used, and all saddles had a similar mark in a hidden place.
There seems to be a mass outbreak of theft of horse stuff at the moment, like many people we have taken extra precautions, though I jumped out of my skin earlier this week when I moved something and the alarm went off..(ear splitting, my ears still ache)
The only real method is an alarm system that is comprehensive and works on alerting people, we have a bee-bop noise that you can set (radio controlled so they can't really disconnect that easily) and if anyone so much as enters the tackroom it alerts us instantly inside the house. You have to turn it off when the room is in use or it drives you nuts but at least you know no-one can enter without you being aware of it.
As a temporary measure try fixing a rape alarm to your tackroom door, yes it's a pain to fasten every night (use fishing line it's near undetectable in the dark) but at least you know the noise might stop them next time.
I am sorry it's a horrible experience, and much as I hate to say it, the so and so's will likely return in a couple of months' time when you have had time to replace all your stuff.
After I was burgled the first time I took all 20 sets of tack home every night in my land Rover, stored them in the house and brought them back, that lasted six months then I moved into a caravan at the yard with a big GSD running loose. They didn't try again after that!

Oh what a nightmare for you. I leant my friend a saddle once whilst hers was being repaired. Her yard was broken into and it was stolen. Never got a penny back as it was in a yard with more than 5 horses.

typical, just before xmas. Take your tack home in future.

Real sorry to hear about that, unfortunately i know how you feel and it is horrid.
So annoying when you work hard to buy the stuff for your horses and some lazy B***ards feel they have the right to not work and take your stuff and sell it on to get easy money.
Do you have a list of your stuff, and i will put it up in tack shops and email to other saddleries in the area down this end of the country.
I know it is a small chance but the more people that know, it make just make it a little harder for them to sell on

So sorry to hear this. Pre-christmas burglaries of yards is rife. I know how you feel, been there several times, however, we have never left anything valuable there. (apart from a £300 brushcutter last time) Several of our burglaries have shown that we have been watched for them to know what we have and where to find them.
Definately get all your stuff protected by upped security etc before leaving anything there. I can get you chip-trac microchips for £15 (or anyone) if you are interested. they won't prevent theft but give a chance of recovery.

Thanks again everyone. Unfortunitly my tack is not insured and I don't have a rich OH
frown.gif
I'm on DIY livery and the yard's not mine. It was a hard phone call to the YO to tell her, her yard's been ransacked.

I'm only in the yard a month BTW! I've always kept my saddles and stuff in the last yards, and in this yard it's a heafty door to the tack room, so I thought it would be safe.

It's very strange as the yard is a mile in off the road (down a narrow lane) and not visible to the road. It has a gate at the road enterance and one into the yard - both were locked when I arrived this morning. It looks like they walked down the lane to the yard, broke open the tack room and tack lockers with a crowbar, used a wheelie bin to transport the stuff back up the lane to what ever vehicle was waiting. The wheelie bin was found discarded in the field next door.

Thankfully I kept my Kilmke Dressage saddle at home, so at least I have a saddle to ride in. I've an old bridle but the other bridle had my KK bit on it! Thanks to everyone who has offered tack - you are very kind
smile.gif

Here's the bridle and KK bit - it's a black, X-full Stubben bridle with rubber reins.

Saddle was a Berney Bros saddle, GP, wide fitting, 18" seat I think. It was black leather with a tan bottom, if you know what I mean. It has distinctive scratches on one of the panel. I'd recognise it in a second. It also has a purple tag under the flap. It had a leather girth - elastic on one side and usual everyday stirrups. Here's a pic from Berney's Website:

Other stuff stolen include, black synthetic lunging roller, tendon boots, 4 or 5 show numnahs with embroidery on them - velvet navy with gold trim with Super C D in gold on it, White with Super C D in purple on it, white numnah with Moyglare RC and a shamrock on it (purple), White dressage numnah and red with white trim poly pad.
My leather poll gaurd,
Be nice halter - blue large size,
Lunge lines x 2 - blue nylon,
Front brushing boots (they didn't take the matching back boots ???) - black with red trim.
Hi-Vis flourestent Rambo exercise sheet (brand new still in package)
De gogue training aid - was actually broken, but took it anyway.

In the same box was my lunging canvas - heavy duty leather one, my leather head collar we won at the IDHS show, old bridle and other leather bits and pieces - and they weren't taken??? My Rambo was in on top of all of them and it was shoved a side - yet they took rugs from other liveries??

They also only took the front boots from another girl's locker and left the back boots. Another girl had her mud guard boots on the ground (expensive ones) and they weren't taken?? It's really strange.

I know as soon as I go through other stuff, I'll notice other things missing

Sounds interesting - PM me please with details. Can you put them on animals?

So sorry to hear that - I'm in Waterford and will put out the word locally to take care. Unfortunately I think these people steal to order and know exactly what to get and where to find it and at this time of the year they are raising money for their Christmas.

I keep practically all my horse stuff in the house as we have the occasional white van coming up into the yard. They are usually selling tools or asking if we want any jobs done - but I reckon if they see horses in fields they are checking out nearby yards for tack. Hearing that has reminded me to get the paint out and mark all my rugs.

Just glad the horses weren't touched.

Oh f*ck Aileen, really sorry to hear that! And it was only the other day when you replied to a thread I posted about a robbery in Co. Kildare saying they can take everything they want as long as they don't take your horse
frown.gif
Hopefully the Gardai will do their best to find the f*ckers!

How ironic isn't it

Where was the robbery in Kildare - was it Kildare town or Kildare county?
