The wheels have been set in motion to get a retired greyhound/rescued lurcher boy and I couldn't be more nervous about the next step...

The dreaded home check (DUNDUNDUUUN)

I'm going to get a phone call tomorrow from the local homechecker (who lives in my town, conveniently) to arrange a date. I looked around my house and I thought....AAAAARRRGGHHHH!

Somehow my house has turned into a pigsty without me noticing.

My nerves are shot already. I'm such a wimp lol.

:p Well what are you doing posting on here then?

Get to work, your house won't clean itself!

Joking aside, since you already have one dog and if the rescue is sensible, hopefully it matters more that you have a well looked after, harmonious and wonderful dog, than if your home looks like something from a magazine or not. If you can give your dog a good home and care, why should you not be able to do the same for one of their rescues?

:)

PMSL :D I am just the same when I am being home checked, fortunately Cala didnt bother when I got my last rescue :p

PS - dont forget, lots and lots of pictures when he arrives!!!

She didn't ring! -wilt-

That means more cleaning time. Whoooo.

I've only just realised how much room birdseed and seed husks take in the vacuum bag. They get everywhere :S

Actually, I'd like to thank you Gazey because I should hopefully be getting him from GRWE :D Without you linking me to them I'd have been in bit of a hole after being denied by the Oxford RGT :)

And yes. Picturespicturespictures of when he first arrives and meets the house...and the birds XD

._____. I just remembered my camera broke during last summer. I shall have to get a cheap one just for the occasion :D

Really? Oh that is awesome, I am so pleased for you :):) (that you are getting one from GRWE I mean, not that they didnt show up :p)

You will have no problems I am sure, the homecheckers I have had from GRWE have been lovely :)

I am a 'fan' on the GRWE Facebook page and every time they post their 'dog of the month' I want to give it a home  I particularly love Theo, the latest one, they have a picture of him asleep with his paw hooked over his ear just like Talisker used to do when we first got him....:o:o:o:o

No, three is ENOUGH!!! Although on the walk today I was reminiscing about how I could stroke my lurcher without having to reach down, my current three are all tiny :D So it will DEFINITELY be a dog for me next time :)

"I particularly love Theo, the latest one, they have a picture of him asleep with his paw hooked over his ear"

I saw that picture too, on their website though (because I'm not on facebook) :D He is very lovely...and that collar he has on looks very much like a Silver Peacock design. Suits him very well!

I have to admit, I'm rather partial to Blue. And Soda. And Dudley (I have a thing for blues, it seems XD). And Rory. And Poncho.

-dreamy sigh-

"my current three are all tiny"
Try bending aaaaaaall the way down to the floor to pet an 11" high hairy little rat-thing :D:D I put my back out last week doing just that

I now blame you for just making me look at the website...:p

I love Hugo (but wow does he need to lose some weight, he reminds me of Islay when I got her!).....and the lovely Becky (I always like the oldies)......and Poppy...

Wow they have got a lot in at the moment havent they, what a real shame, hope they get lots of lovely homes coming along soon! Are you sure you dont want two greyhounds? Hardly any different to having one you know :D

Yeah, the bloke on the phone said they had a lot in. It's quite heartbreaking really. And it's been confirmed that Portsmouth stadium is closing meaning over 200 greyhounds are pretty much homeless :(

Ehehe, my mum is on at me to get a pair so that she can have one but Tessie is already beginning to get the 'I will murder you in your sleep' look in her eye. I think, perhaps, I shall have to wait until one settles in and then sneak another in the back door when the rat's not looking!
