which means we are land locked in, and I can't get to ride to ride my beautiful boy before the rain sets in. The whole town is barracaded off, so there's no parking at all, and it's mayhem. Was hoping for rain to put the flame out, but sunny and I can't get to the yard. :mad:

Hope not to start a debate on the Olympics - it just winds me up that all the shops will lose trade, no-one can get about, and god only knows who will be holding the damned thing. No, I'm not pro (bar the horsey stuff ;)).
 
Yes but have you seen the weather forecast for the next two months - RAIN RAIN RAIN.....would much rather be at the yard, lol x
 
Ahh come on...its a historic thing and one which is unlikely to happen again for most of us, you can ride any day!
 
It's our way on Saturday.
We're getting up and out especially early to see it :) ..... think I'm more excited than my kids :D.

I have a lifetime to ride my horse but I'll never see the Olympic flame in this country again :)
 
Consider yourself lucky you're not in Surrey or London. We'll have the cycle race very close to us and it was mayhem just for the practice run. I don't expect to be able to go anywhere after 7am (the route is less than 1/2 mile away and we don't have parking restrictions on our lanes), so I'll be getting up at silly hour just to see to the ponies.

That said, I might walk up to the route and wave a little flag/carry a sign that says 'Hi Mum' for the cameras, that sort of thing.... :D
 
I have to travel through Stratford every day on my way to work, so come the Olympics that will be fun.....not :eek:

Having said that I'm quite excited about it all as it is a once in a lifetime opportunity, I will definately be out waving my flag when it comes past the end of my road :)

Go and join in, you know you want to :D
 
It's coming up to Carlisle at 6 ish but I'm missing it to go jumping!

Driving home from school I passed barriers and police cones everywhere!
 
Ok, Relay Report ....this is all to a backdrop of airhorns and god knows what.

Three Police bikes to kick off ;

Firstly we had a Coca Cola advertising float with a blonde leggy cheerleader telling us how much fun the Torch Relay was. Not much response.

Then we had a Samsung advertising float with another exciting display - still no response.

Wait for it - a Lloyds TSB float, with yup - you guessed it.

Then an empty coach, with a rather starled looking driver ??

Then a mini bus, ditto.

Then a horsebox and a car in Olympic livery.

By now, people were starting to go home...........

but wait - HERE IS THE TORCH, a young lad holding it, but I don't think peeps realised it was coming.

Two more coaches - more police, and voila !!!!
 
* I embrace it * hahaha, but i don't drink coke, don't want a samsung, and bank with Barclays - oooooo dear, they didn't change my mind today either... oh sorry, did you mean the torch ? :p
