Help meeeee, people...! I sold said Shetland earlier in the year to a family with children but now they have lost their field & given me first refusal to buy her back for what I sold her for.

Pros: I have had her since a 6 month old fluffy foal & she is very cute. I have the horses at home so an extra one wouldn't be much more expense. Trev the ex racer lived with just her at my last house for ages & would be delighted to see her. My Dartmoor is only a couple of hands bigger than her & they used to groom each other. The Dartmoor would also be pleased to see her. I was only thinking about the Shetland a couple of days ago & wondering how she was getting on & missing her.

Cons: Another set of feet to do in the mornings. Escape artist, and when she escapes, the Dartmoor tends to follow. (Won't be forever - our fencing is getting a considerable upgrade if I can pin the fencer down to a start date. 2024 at the current rate of progress...) Potentially needs different management to the others. I am saving up for an FMBs unit which is £££££££££ for my new chap, and buying her back would put a dent in my budget. I was trying to downsize & have got down from 7 (!!!!!) to 3, and for a blissful week before Trev came back from loan, only had two.

But...she's cuuuuuuute...!

Her advert is going live any second, so I need to make my mind up!

Because she doesn't really have a job here and I was a bit overwhelmed with horses. Two or three were out on loan, and just as I bought no 7, one came back off loan on about a week's notice, so I had to put one that was at home onto grass livery as he would have fought the one coming back & it made me think that I was in over my head. I now have just my ridden TB, plus Trev that I've had since 5 who is now 18 (PSSM n/p3, n/px so not much use for anything) and the Dartmoor (n/p4). The other 3 are safely sold & miles away.

I am going to try and be the voice of reason here. Do you actually want her back? I'm assuming you sold her for a reason, so consider if those reasons still hold true. If you think, yes, I really miss her and want her back to keep, then go for it. But if you know deep down that you will be wanting to sell her on again before long, I personally think it might be better (and kinder?) to allow her current owner to sell her to, hopefully, a long term home.

Mind you, I've never sold a horse in my entire life and collect field ornaments like they're going out of fashion, so I don't know if I'd actually be able to follow my own advice!

She is very naughty & always looks as if she is smiling secretly to herself. I also backed her & rode her for something to do when I didn't have anything sound to ride. She can do lateral work!

Definitely.

And please promise you will compete her - (BD Native Champs!)
