Today the zip on my gaiters broke. They are too old to take back, although still in really good condition, and not really old enough to justify getting a new pair. They were also (as my OH likes to point out) rather ridiculously expensive for 'pieces of leather'! Does anyone have any idea where I'd be able to get a new zip/get them fixed? As the zip has elasticated sides, it seems a rather more complex problem than I'd originally assumed, and I have no idea where to buy a zip like that. Any help would be hugely appreciated! Thank you!

Not sure where you are based, but if it was mine I would take it to our local saddler and he'd hopefully put a new zip in. Might be worth looking in the yellow pages/yell.com for a saddler local to you. Would be a shame not to get it repaired if you can.

If a saddler can't do it also try a shoe repair shop. Both me and my sister took our riding boots to one to get the zips replaced, They had to send them away but they managed it and it was cheaper than new boots (tho my sis still had to get some as hers didn't fit in the first place hence the broken zip...and I got a nice pair of boots out of it :D lol)

My boots were elacticated (mountain horse ones....no idea what make as really old, but the chunkyer ones) and they didn't have any problems.
