For those who like me were frustrated by the Aachen website livestream blackouts, here is the reply which finally came on Tuesday. I had alsi asked about the special awards which we did not have the benefit of seeing, and which were not mentioned on the website on Sunday night or Monday:
we are glad about your interest in the CHIO Aachen.
Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to broadcast the competitions in our livestream while the TV broadcast of the show is running. As German television does not only own the national, but also the international TV rights, we are not allowed to block the stream only for Germany.
The "Prize of the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany", the Style Trophy for the rider with the best style in the "Rolex Grand Prix" (competition S 16) was won by Marcus Ehning.
Marcus also won the "Prize of the Federal Minister of the Interior", the special trophy for the best placed jumping rider of the entire show according to the point system.
The "Halla Challenge Trophy" for the owner of the most successful horse in the classical jumping competitions of the event was bestowed to Little Valley Farms for Ashlee Bonds horse Cadett 7.
I replied to thank them and asked if German TV did not use to have full rights, as in the past the livestream was not stopped. No reply to that so far!
