The Aachen Superleague event was run under floodlights last night (thursday).
The British team of Nick Skelton (Arko), Peter Charles (Rupert R), Tim Stockdale (Corlato) and John Whitaker (Peppermill) finished a very creditable 3rd= with Usa on 21 penalties. They were just a single penalty behind The Netherlands in 2nd with Germany winners on 16 faults. Clear rounds appear to have been hard to come by with the time being a major factor. Corlato was extremely unlucky in that she left all the fences standing in both rounds...but picked up a single time penalty each time.
This result leaves Great Britain in 3rd place overall in the Superleague behind (you guessed it) Germany and Holland, with USA snapping at their heels.
It all bodes well for the Olympics next month...but first the teams have to head off to Hickstead for Round 6 at the RIHS...where all the Hong Kong bound horses will be absent due to pre-travel quarantine restrictions.
