AAD meet up - another synopsis!

Looking at feedback on the other thread it seems that the date will actually be SATURDAY 12TH JUNE 2010 so we can have the pleasure of Cayla's company

Taylored Equestrian has made a fabulously generous offer of facilities in Shropshire, so I really think that if we can sort out logistics of toilets/shower facilities then we would be mad to miss this opportunity

If anyone has any other suggestions please shout

Actaully I did look at the calander at work and I could do he 26th *runs to avoid a battering of GH*

I can do the 12 aswell.

I will jsut put the dates in as hols then cancell them out near the time, then that will stop anyone else putting hols in then

I wanted to go on hol abroad but booked with borders then

but will leave OH to see to them

, so will have to go late may, early July?

Not that anyones arsed about that....but does anyone know when the brats break up from school?

Usually the middle of July! You can tell as that is when holidays start doubling in price!!!

Well Shropshire sounds good to me

I've been to TE's place and it is great. Colleen, the ferry used to go into Liverpool (not sure if it still does) and it is easier to get to Shropshire from the 'pool than Holyhead, think its a longer crossing though. If you do fly I am happy to put you in the boot if I pick CC up

I have a toilet on site (fully up to regs as a disbaled loo too!!)

On the shower front if it's only one night it's not the end of the world if everyone smells a bit doggy?!? Is it? Or did I miss the bit where this was for longer?!

We can accomadate tents, horseboxes and caravans.

For the Irish contigent you could either fly into Liverpool or ferry to Holyhead (just over an hours drive away)

If people would rather stay in a b&b then I can look into what is nearest to us. or if people want to do their own search on line then we are Baschurch so the nearest places would be Shrewsbury or Oswestry. But of course the tent option means more drinking time!!!

My thoughts were that if everybody who wanted to come sent £15 or £20 to one of the locals round here (or me) then it would confirm that they were coming. I (or someone else locally) could then go and do a shop to get food for the bbq nd drinks etc. We could arrange on here eating/drinking requirements. This way everyone will have chipped in and it would confirm numbers. I do have a fridge up here and we have also been known to use the spa to keep drinks cold.

If any people would struggle with having dogs in tents - ( I did it at loch lomond with me and my boyfriend - me at 5'10 and him at 6'2 and 2 GSDs in a 2 man tent and know it can be a little too cosy!!) Then there are 3 large stables in the treatments barn that could be used as Kennels for those dogs that get on with each other.

All eating can be done with paper plates/plastic cutlery so everything just goes striaght in the bin and no washing up is required.

One thing though - I'm not cooking!!

The only problem I shall have is that my hair will look a mess the following day

If you or someone else local doesnt mind collecting money and arranging food, drinks, and disposable cutlery/plates etc that would be brilliant

Or we can all bring something as our contribution... I can do a list and everyone would choose an item from the list?

Whatever is easier for you of course

What, you mean you missed the post where we decided it was going to be a 2 week festival...?

I agree with you about the cooking - aren't BBQ's a blokes thing??

Maybe nearer the time maybe some of us can volunteer stuff like bowls of potato salad or something - I would be happy to do some and bring it with me.

Wow, brave indeed TE, but when I did this hardly anyone showed up, you might be lucky!!!! 12th is a wee bit near my Dad's birthday and I am supposed to be taking him away, but sure we will see what happens and I could even integrate it somehow.

If other OHs come then mine may make an appearance complete with Wroxy (another GSD) and I also forget to mention Sam and Ella (Lab and JRT) who live here too. But otherwise Jamie will steer well clear of a bunch of horsey women - even if they are coming in the disguise of being doggy ones instead!!

I'm easy with whatever you decide to do re the food thing. My only thinking was that if by any fluke it was hot it might be easier if people haven't got to travel with it.

I'm happy to help with collecting money/shopping etc. Have to say the thought of sharing a tent with Evie is pretty scarey, but would not be a problem for me to pop her home before the drinking started if need be!
As you used to have Shepherds then may reconsider the boot Col. Evie says thank you for the offer of kidnapping B but she already has a sable boyfriend.

However the last time I organised a HHO meet up 24 people showed up

- it was chaos

TE I see your point about the food, just didnt want to make too much work for you

AA route maps say about 3 1/2 hours, so not too bad........Oz will arrive well rested anyway!
