After getting soaked through this morning I’ve decided I need a new no fill waterproof jacket that’s breathable so I don’t sweat buckets. I have a Musto that I bought years ago in a sale but I want to keep that for non horsey things plus it’s bright blue so would get filthy in two seconds up the yard.

Has anyone seen any bargains in the sales going around? It would be a plus if I could ride in it.

Should add I don’t like ‘bomber‘ style jackets.

I always recommend this coat because to me it is unbeatable. It is completely waterproof even in prolonged heavy rain, it’s warm in winter but because it has the zip out inner, the outer shell is light enough for summer. It also has the 2way zip

Just checked and ut has jumped in price but I would still buy it

Outdoor functional wear has reduced some of their Uhip trench coats - they're water resistant not proof but up to about 6000hh. I've worn mine in torrential rain and had one small wet spot

I've got several Shires coats, would recommend them. If you're out in it for 4-5 hours the seams leak a bit, but perfectly good for general use

There's a new weatherbeeta one in the style of the kyla but lightweight.

I recently bought a lightweight one from kramer, it's great with a 5000 waterproof and breathable rating, think some colours were £60.

I love my Weatherbeeta Kyla jacket, I have 2 I like them that much! I find it regulates temperature really well and really waterproof. I have it in navy and black and find the black very smart and try keep it for day to day wear too.

It is a bit on the more expensive side but Sportsdirect have them at a good price. https://www.sportsdirect.com/weatherbeeta-kyla-waterproof-jacket-632196#colcode=63219618
I’ve always liked the look of these but would be too warm for this weather. When I need a new winter one…..

I ride in a very old Gortex summer walking jacket from Berg Haus but I swoon at what they cost now.

My winter coat is Musto, equally old and Musto is always good. I was just saying to OH that after I had been riding a year, we bought very expensive clothes for me to ride in, and it is all still in use 20 years later and still going strong.

You can't go wrong with a Musto coat. I have a collection of them bought in sales or on ebay and they never fail to impress me. Sitting on my hands now to stop me buy the one asmp has just bought. I really don't need any more coats but I can't resist a bargain.

Hmm I have my eye on this for the winter now! Always wanted a longer coat but always found they are ridiculous prices usually!

Friend has this for walking and raves about it.

I went into my local Musto a few weeks ago and felt their new range was appalling - their waterproof coats were more fabric than anything else and I wasn’t convinced. I’ve since switched allegiance to Helly Hansen (who own Musto) and the quality is infinitely better imho.

I personally wouldn't bother with horsey brands. If you want a proper waterproof coat, look for atleast 10,000 mm hydrostatic head. Anything below that is more suited to showers than driving rain.

I always buy goretex waterproofs. If you want a lightweight jacket, then the goretex paclite range or active range is brilliant. They're not as hard-wearing as goretex pro but are great at keeping you dry.

I’m very impressed with my Baleno Chelsea (Picked up from eBay for £15!)
And seems to be available for a good price here under an alternative name
