I got to the yard earlier to see mare flat on her side. I did worry a little as she doesn't usually lie down in the field so I made my way over. She didn't move. Little cob was sort of stood over her and I could feel my heart rate rising as she still wasn't moving. I got right up to her and she just lay there with her eyes closed.
Well absolute panic set in, I called her name and made some clicky noises. She opened her eyes, lifted her head, groaned and lay back down. I actually felt so sick, getting a little frantic I picked her head back up and tried to make her get up. She wouldn't, she just kept groaning. I was absolutley beside myself and didn't really know what to do.
I went to walk off and compose myself and call the vet. What did she do? Yep, got up and trotted after me. There was absolutley nothing wrong with her, she was just asleep and hadn't woken up properly.
