is nothing selling atm??!!!

ive had D up for sale for a month now and had zilch response :(

Quick Question, do you think it is better to put in the advert that she has been injured previously and needs a slower pace of life, or should i keep my mouth shut until someone actually calls?? I dont want to lead anyone on and then drop it as a bombshell but on the other hand it might be putting everyone off :/ ?

and do you think that £3000 is fair for a schoolmistress (had a tendon injury) not a plod but 100% sane and lovely??

**DEAR ADMIN, IM NOT ADVERTISING HERE!! NO NAME/ NUMBER/ ACTUAL USEFUL INFO!! okeey ;) **

I know of several horses for sale at the moment- none of which has had much or any response.

Maybe its just that time of year, summer ending and all this scare talk about price rises in hay, bedding etc might be putting people off??

Going off very minimal info in your post, I would say seems a bit pricey. I wouldn't pay £3000 for a horse that had had a tendon injury and was now restricted in what it can do. You can get some real superstars for £3K at the moment. Just my opinion though and like I said, isn't much info in your post to go off :)

I think you will find that it is the price for a horse with a tendon injury that is putting people off. I wouldn't expect to pay more than half of that in the current climate.

okay, thanks, we are considering reducing the price though cos of lack of interest! :/
she's an ex JC so v good jumper, although acnt bsja anymore, and 110% at everything you ask of her, a real sweetie and great charcter to have around. if you know of anyone wanting something like this in scotland piont them in my direction!! :)

Hi, I feel for you! Selling horses is just awful. Difficult to say if your price is fair or not. You say your horse is a school mistress - to what level? And how much does her injury affect her and what she can do in the future? I don't know how old or big she is but I was surprised looking though the ads a few days ago at how much prices have come down for really nice horses who do not have (or they haven't stated in advert!) any problems

Without wanting to offend you, I think you are possibly being a bit optimistic as to what she is worth in the current climate, especially given her history of injury affecting what she can do.

Quality sound horses will always sell but if you have something quirky or with past problems I think in the current climate you have to be very realistic about what buyers will pay for them.

Ok i sold my horse last week and brought another the same week... I only sold mine after i dropped the price ..by the time i sold him i got half what i originally thought i would get. But it had a knock on effect on the horse i brought, i got money off that horse to..
To be perfectly honest he was sound young and had huge potential there is lots out there at the moment i feel you need to drop your price to encorage interest especially with an old injury :(

Hi, my friend has a super 16.2, 7 year old bay gelding for sale. A total sweetheart, bombproof hack, schooling and jumping coming on nicely, competing locally in SJ and Dressage with ability to affiliate BSJA or BE, price only £3000. Absolutely no calls what-so-ever - the horse is gorgeous, we just cannot understand it.

Sorry but a horse with tendon injury,a ged from your description, is only worth about 1K. It doesn't matter if she WAS a good jumper, she isn't now as can't jump-and you can buy sound horses for v. little atm.

Hey lg4770 - EgerdenFarmStud is looking for something like you're describing. So, ok they said up to 15.3hh but what's a few inches between friends!? lol

If the horse is good then i don't think it's too big an issue what it's height is.

Same here, I've got what IMO is most peoples ideal competition horse (genuine, honest, very easy, with proven results BE & BSJA!). But only had 2 queries. One person says he sounds perfect for them but doesn't want to travel from England to see him :(

I'm not really bothered though as I don't really want to sell! Just struggling to pay to compete him at the level he's at, now I have a stinking mortgage :( Never realised how 'rich' I was before buying my first house!!

Just a thought - is it possible that the middle market for horses, so those over £2k and up to £6k ish is being more affected by the economic climate.

Those with plenty of cash, possibly not at risk of redundancy/ or more horsey backgrounds (work with horses or similar) are still out there looking, and those at the bottom end - as they are cheaper then easier to afford are still buying, whereas everyone in the middle feeling the pinch is putting off buying?

Oh most definately agree with above, a good looking well bred horse aimed at the higher end of the market I feel wouldn't be as affected as a middle of the road competition horse. in the current market. Earlier this year a friend sold THE most fantastic middle of the road horse, doing well dressage, started SJ ready to BE, honest, sound, hacked out by a 70 year old, you name it, and he was only 5 so got his whole life ahead. He was easily worth £5000, he sold for £3500!!!

So to be asking £3000 for a horse with an previous injury that does now/still affect it, in this market then yes I do believe it is over priced, but again regionally prices vary too!
