Horse at our yard has been all but abandoned by owner.Used to be all other liveries on total diy yard did horse.Things came to a head recently YO informed and called owner who later texted someone to put horse out in other field with more outdoor one(Tho these lot won't be out all winter just most)Horse became frantic when time to come in came.Other livery took horse in ,for all the right reasons but has now taken on role of taking in/out,mucking etc.Thing is heard this week that owner say wants horse out but tbh makes no effort to actually do this themselves.
I have said don't want anything to do with it but hard as next door to my 2.
I just feel liveries are putting themselves in a sticky position should something happen to horse and at end of day owner still not taking responsibility for own horse.
Oh owner not answering call etc.
How does this leave liveries should something happen to horse as owner hasn't actually requested they do anything horse is just left.

I think all the liveries should leave it out, it will then go completley mental in the field and churn it up, the YO will (hopefully) get a bit mad and actually do what everyone pays her to and kick the other livery into touch.

YO would he's a farmer!!
Yep totally agree with you but this one livery (really nice person)can't stand by while horse is frantic which tbh I can understand BUT it doesn't solve the bigger prob!!

I agree with DD however I wouldnt be able to leave it. YO should be doing all the work and invoicing the livery for it. With the new Welfare Act in place it is the YO is responsible for the care and welfare of the horse if the owner cant be ar$ed. Horse owners like this shouldnt be on a livery yard.

i agree with this point , the yard owner should be doing the work and taking that responsibility and invoicing this wretched owner, if you can call them that
though it must be so hard to stand by. YO really needs to take charge here

Have experienced this before, its upto the YO basically. The one we had did come up most days to see her horse but never bothered to fill up his water tank or get the farrier sorted. YO do sort it out and invoice her. She said she loved him but how can you love your horse and not bother to fill his water up when you go and see him. She even drove the care down to the field so it would have been easy to pop a water container in the back. The more you do the more they'll rely on it.

Tequila - is it who I think it is AGAIN??? Just do it and then charge her for it! Having to spend money will make her pull her finger out!!! Or just threaten call ILPH - it is an abandoned horse

YES!!K has finally stoodup for herself with a loud NO can't do anymore(exams etc)
Did think of that but there is a bit of debate whose paying bills anyway either parents or not been paid so wouldn't affect owner anyways, rumour has it the latter but that could just be usual chinese whispers..Owner has given up answering phone even to J.
Think the thing is that while horse is getting sorted theres no problem.tho he has said it'll be sorted by xmas one way or another
Grrrrrr!!Livery thats doing her is meant to be moving away from area end dec/jan so who does horse then!!Not me!!Does horse land up being put out 24/7 in blizzards by then!I don't know!

ps livery thats doing it is doing it for all the right reasons and a really nice person but peronally think it delays the inevitable.

Well you could. I wouldn't do them but sure rest of yard would - at least for a yr anyway

But send up shavings and feed as their not that good!!Odd feed yes but not whole winters ok!!

your YO is being irresponsible - its not the liveries responsibility to look after this horse / make sure it doesnt injure itself going ballistic in the field.

I say everyone who has cared for this pony all of you club together - sell it to someone who will love and care for it - split the money between you and when the woman eventually turns up at the yard or "texts" orders for her horses care tell her he's being well looked after and for her not to worry :-D

haha maybe not!!

things like this make my bloody boil some people dont deserve horses
