A friend just called to say two whippets were thrown out of a van (she didn't see the van, some young lads did) in her street. The RSPCA don't want to know, so I told her to take them to the local police station that has kennels and where my OH has just started his shift!

If you know anything about this, please contact Borehamwood police station in Herts.

You're an angel! I haven't heard what happened yet, they didn't end up at m OH's station. The friend who rang was being hostess with the mostest at her son's barmitzvah tonight, will find out, couldn't hear a thing over the band. I think she said something about someone had been looking for them, dunno, will ask tomorrow.

Think they were greyhounds, in fact, that had not been up to the job:mad:. I will ask my colleague in a minute as we're both doing revision sessions today in school for GCSE.

HAd a peek at the whippet rescue site as been thinking whippety thoughts lately.

Turns out they were greyhounds. Now, my friend was very busy, I understand that, but I was as helpful as I could be, given I'd had a drink so couldn't go round and take them to the police station for her.

She told me on Tuesday that she took one dog in and fed it, some kids took the other one. The kids then came to her house and said they'd take the dog she had and get the RSPCA involved. She let them take the dog!!! The mobile number she got from them was, surprise, surprise, not valid and when a van went past the house, the kids said it was the one the dogs were thrown out of but no-one should tell the police the index in case the van owners traced them and got nasty. It all sounds very suspicious to me but I am really angry with her for not taking the correct action. God knows what has happened to those poor dogs. :(

they are flexiable and understand most people have to work and depending what truma the dogs been through...i had a foster whippy for a short while and now hes off up yorkshire to a permanet home..i dont think any dog should be left alday on its own but thats my opinion

its a new rescue and you must understand they are going to have teething problems but have rehomed quite a few hounds now..and not just sighthounds either

lets hope these dogs have a happy ending

Poor greyhounds... Having had several greyhounds, both ex racers and 3 from pups who never raced- they are the sweetest dogs, they only need short walks and sleep the rest of the time (apart from stealing and unattended dood which seems to be a compulsion no matter how well they are fed)
I hope the dogs are located and found loving homes as there is always the retired greyhound trust covering the whole country and Fenbank which is in the sticks in Skegness direction.
People make me so angry who dump dogs but if they didn't, then I wouldn't have my gorgeous Rotti girl who Kerilli found and saved.
