abcess?!! advice please

mt tb highly suspeceted has a abcess , had feet done but farrier not seen any abcess, was lame wednesday and foot hot, poutiliced but nothing came out, farrier checked but all ok, leg swollen and hot, vets given danilon and continue to poultice over weekend, cant rule out an absess deeper down, much more comfortable this am after having danilon, leg still swollen!! , any experiences xx

This is like well worrying this is exactly what my mare was like.

In July I found her lame in one foot , I thought tendon.

I cold hosed and ice booted her for 2 weeks.


I treated her for tendon as leg swollen and hot foot hot too. I wasted 2 valuable weeks treating her for the wrong thing.


Then got vet out


vet took shoe off had a look for abscess .. nothing farrier did the same .

poulticed her for a week



turned out to be Laminitis. now 2 months on she is still critical as the proper treatment wasn't applied at the beginning.


first thing check the pulse. If there is a pulse ask the vet to see if its Laminitis.
