My poor old horse is recovering from a big abcess in a hind hoof. The farrier trimmed his feet yesterday and on his advice I turned him out in the field with a waterproof poultice on.
When I got him in this morning his poultice was miraculously dry but I now think he has another abcess brewing in a front hoof. I've poulticed it tonight and as the vet is at the yard tomorrow I'll ask her to dig around if it hasn't yet erupted.
Is it likely that the trim to his feet has resulted in this and would the application of Keratex Hoof Hardener have helped prevent it?
