Please note, vet has attended, xrayed and sent to a specialist as she is stumped! Just looking to see if anyone has experience of this

My horse has an abnormal bone growth coming from the side of his hock joint, he does have spavins in both hocks but they are well fused and fairly old. New growth is still forming and grown visibly in less than 2 weeks, horse lame. My vet has never seen anything like it, does anyone have experience of something similar?

One of my little section B's developed a largish bony growth literally overnight in what sounds like the exact same place as your horse. She was in full work at the time, didn't go lame at all. I took her to vet for X-rays etc, and he too was a bit stumped. The only explanation he could come up with was that a tiny foreign body had worked it's way into the site, and the bone had reacted to it but nothing was clear from the X-ray. We don't show her now, she is 21 so we have just left it, she still gets ridden and has not had any other problems leg related in her life. I think you will just have to accept it for what it is, a mystery! Unless of course you want to spend a ton of money trying to get to the bottom of it?
