Finally have a foal, about 10 days overdue!
My brother checked at 10:30pm, nothing. I checked at 11:30pm and there was a little brown thing wriggling its way round the stable. So missed all the action.
Hes very wobbly, always surprises me how robust they are though. Shes not taking to him very well, spent the first hour staring at him in disbelief, and now squaaling at him.
Hoping the vet will get his a55 out of bed!

Still at the 'what the hell is it?' stage.

Mare is still a cow.
Have been twitching her every 30 mins through the night to get him on. Once hes on you can un - twitch with no problems. She wont let him anywhere near her otherwise, squeels and bucks at him.
Was touch and go for a couple of hours (was syringing it down him), but hopefully getting there now.

congrats and hope all goes ok for them its a worrying time ,i have been advised to get my mare used to having her bag touched before she has her foal next year as she is a maiden and touchy down there ,god luck

Hope she improves ,could she be a bit sore from foaling.
We have one that does it although she does it less if we are there.
Expect she is a bit shellshocked as it's her first isnt it.
I'm sure she will get the hang of it by the time shes had three or four.
Seriously though fingers crossed for you.

Congratulations! Hope she's settling down a bit now, always very wearing when they prat about like that!

Thanks for pm, he's well chuffed! Think she's going over the w/e so she doesn't get too settled here; she can do that when she comes back in foal!

ahhhhhhhhhh bless he is a cutie.
When we lambed the ewes, if a ewe did'nt take to the lamb we use to bring the dog in and the ewe soon protected the lamb, a naturel thing i suppose .. wonder if it would work with your mare!!

Glad to hear hes happy with the mare.
Mare has settled down a bit now. Still a fair amount of squeeling going on, but seems to be mostly for effect and shes letting him get right in there. Helps that hes being a bit crafty about it now, rather than going for it like a bull in a china shop like he was earlier.
Hes a lovely strong foal, which was a worry as it took him ages to get up. Quite big for a first foal too, my vet really likes him (he sees 100's a year).
Not really got a name yet, but calling him 'Little Harry' for the mo. His dad is Sir Harry Lewis and we already have a 'big' Harry, so its pretty logical by my standards!
