Hi
Does anyone have any good advice for a horse that evades the contact by coming above the bit? It only happens when we move into trot- he is a hot horse, holds the tension in his neck & then comes above the bit. At home, I generally move back down into walk, re-establish the contact & use loads of half halts & transitions. I spend a lot of time working him long & low & trying to soften him through the poll, jaw & neck but as soon as we move into trot teh tension arrives! I ride him in a snaffle & he is up to date with teeth/back etc. I'm not heavy with my hands. He is a very hot, tense, big moving horse & the master of evasions. I think he doesnt know what to do with his big paces & starts to work in a correct outline in trot, then panics & comes above the bit.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks so much

try asking him on a circle and have a little inside flexion. have you tried a hanging cheek? This made a huge difference to my horse
