Abscess a few questions?

My mare has had an abscess in her foot which has now cleared up farrier has checked it and said no more nasty in there

but then she was very sore on her other foot with a bruised heel vet thought it mght be due to her weight bearing on it with other foot so sore and she was a bit lame on it,that was over two weeks ago,she now seems ok just a hole in her foot where abscess was,she has no shoes on as yet only back waiting for the vet to say she can have them back on,now can i turn her out as its so nice and shes been on box rest so long poor baby! i was thinking of nappy vet wrap and tape any other ideas she has been in the indoor school and had a run about

What do you think? the fields are quite dry only round the gate is muddy and the y have been rolled etc this week.
 
Yeh you should be ok, i have had horses turned out 24hrs with poultices on. I used to do normal poultice then put dengie bag, much thicker over the top and use thick duck tape with lots over the toe.
 
You can buy a turn out poultice boot from most horsey outlets, they do cost over £40, but well worth it. They are hard wearing and can be used again and again.

Everything is gone and there is absolutely no need to wrap up anymore.
My oldie has five holes in one hoof from her abscess, still pus coming out, but vet said to leave her out and NOT to bandage.
