Absolute nightmare of a day

Think I'm going to go hide for a week or so!!

Worked down near uni today, got a phone call from my sister (who's currently in Devon) saying that Lugs has laminitis in all 4 feet and could I go down at 6 when the vet was going to make a decision so I could be there to say goodbye to her if she needed to be PTS.

On my way home (lunchtimish) I was just happily driving along when I see a car pulling out across the road, turning right from a side road. It was too close for me to be able to stop so I crashed straight into the side. Cue airbags, horrible crunching noises and a brief panic when I couldnt undo my seat belt or open the door. Thought about things rationally for a minute, grabbed my phone and managed to get out. Thankfully the driver of the other car was ok, though like me, very shaken.
Was there for about 1 1/2 hours what with fire engines, police etc and finally car got towed away, probably never to be seen again. Which kinda left me stranded a long way from anywhere and anyone! Hitched a lift to a train station and managed to get home at about 5pm.

So I've just been down with Lugs. She's still alive, she's very, very sore on her front feet but she's eating and drinking well, she's done two poos today (yippee) and although she's very down, she's still alert.

Vet says that if no more complications then she should get over it in time. So watch this space!!

oh my god you poor thing what a day and what a nightmare, lets hope its all your bad luck in one day and things turn brighter alongside the recently appearing sunshine

What a bloody nightmare indeed. Hope you are OK in the morning (and not stiff from the impact) and hopefully you will get info on your car ASAP.

As for Lugs, well all we can do is wait and see I suppose, but I am still praying for her

You poor thing. The car is a pain in the bum but 'only' a car. At least Lugs looks like she has a chance so I am keeping my fingers crossed and sending lots of positive vibes her way. Keep us posted on her progress.

Oh jeez Boss - what a dreadful time you are having at the moment. Sending you loads and loads of positive thoughts for Lugs; I'm really really hoping she makes it through this.

Fingers crossed for Lugs.

Hope you are ok after your bump- in my experience car crashes always affect you more than you would think.

Your life is like the weather at the moment 'it never rains but it pours'
I feel so sorry for you and be careful because with all these shocks it will tell on you sooner or later, you must take care of yourself as well.
I am hoping and praying for you and your horse

Blimey Boss, it is a bad week. If you ever get stuck round my way again give me a ring and I'll come rescue you if I can. At least Lugs is still hanging on.

Jesus, you must have really upset him upstairs to be having such a rough time.

At least now you have had your 3. The foal, Lugs and the car.

As the song says 'Things can only get better'

OMG If you haven't got enough to deal with!! I'm glad you and the other driver are okay. I'll keep my fingers toes and evrything crossed for you and Lugs - Tons of hugs and vibes on there way ~<>~<>~<>~<>~<>~

OMG it has not been a good week for you. Are you ok? It sounds horrible.
Glad Lugs is looking perkier, fingers are crossed for her.

That crunching sound is horrible ~shudders~

What a crappy day

have a huge hug and some choccie ~sends it bristol way~

Hope Lugs is ok too

Just to say glad that you are ok Boss, could`ve been a lot worse. Glad that Lugs is on the mend too.
It has been a crap day but you must look at it as if it could`ve been worse and that you were lucky. You walked away from what could`ve been a lot lot worse, and Lugs is going to be Ok and she is still with us.
Chin up, think positive and you will be. Me and my family have been through so much sh*t this year with 3 funerals, one being a 5 day old neice, hubbys best mate and the other my husbands sister. All within 3 months - a tragic start to anyones year, We also had 2 placement breakdowns, fostering, but we`re still here and we were told to think positive and it seems to be working. TW.
