Murphy and Mo were out in the arena today running about and carrying on. Murphy was galloping!!!! He looked so happy, tail was up and bucking with excitement.

Brought him in and let him settle, gave him a nice groom while hubby groomed Mo. Got him his food and when i tried to open the door to put it in with him, he put his nose to my chest and shoved me really hard, wasnt expecting it and fell, landing on my ass.

I was really shocked with him, just wondering what makes a horse do this, or could he still be excited about running about?

prob still in 'play' mode as opposed to 'respectful of mummy' mode. i have to remind my youngsters that mummy is not to be played with, as i'm not up to their weight...
hope you gave him a good shove back before he got his dinner, and that you're alright!

Yeah got straight up and pushed him right back into the stable, he seemed shocked. Murphy is 27 years old but you would think hes alot younger! Hes 16.1hh and a heavy irish draught. He normally is sweet but you can tell hes been allowed off with alot of things.

I went out closed the door, walked down to the bottom of the block of stables and walked up again. Opened the gate again and this time he behaved.

Im fine, was just a shock and was embarassed as my friends were up lol.

and i bet you said "he's never done that before" and they thought "yeah, right"...
don't you just love horses...

It was funny in a way cause there was me going on about Murphy the big gentle gaint, wouldnt harm a fly. Then he goes and does that. After seeing i was ok they burst out laughing lol

My old boy Motor (Mo to some

so a namesake to one of yours!) is now 26 and would never hurt a fly, but still gets very excited at times, especially at tea time, and gives me a bash with his nose in the b**bs/chest area... must admit though that he hardly ever gets told off nowadays as I would never admit he does any wrong and can get away with HELL! But it still hurts ...... now if my other boy did that he would get told off big time, but actually I cannot recall him ever trying that trick!

I told him off as im pregnant and b**bs are a bit sensitive lol, he is normally well behaved but think he got excited with the food.

Have to admit when i took him on for 'retirement' i thought oh got a horse that is going to be lazy etc. He can give the young ones a run for their money! He didnt take to being fully retired so we brought him into light work and hes never been happier.

He can be a cheeky boy at times, gives girl a nip on the bum, puts his nose in places that he shouldnt lol.
