Absolutely furious

I have my rug back, because she took it before 5pm yesterday they did it straight away, she brought it back this morning with a bottle of wine, extremely humble and we have sorted things out.
I don't mind lending people things when they ask, gosh I have about 10 bits out on loan at the moment, I'm not a selfish person but a rug is very different, I would never borrow one even from my closest mate because horses have a tendancy to ruin things, if I borrowed a show jacket I know I would treat it well, if I borrowed a rug my horse wouldn't (he likes to find trouble in the field) so I just can't imagine what she was thinking!

My friends on our yard borrow the odd thing, like my knife for opening hayledge, an over reach boot if they have lost one, or a yard brush or even the odd carrot if they have run out. All of which are returned to there rightful place, nobody minds and we are all friends. But can't imagine anyone having the cheek to take a rug belonging to someone else, not to mention returning it in a muddy state.
I would have lost the plot too. Change the lock on your tackroom. Tell her if anything like that happens again you will have her charged with theft.

I agree, you have been competely reasonable - at least she's seen the error of her ways, and I always find that wine can solve even the most difficult problem! People can be so ignorant though - I can't imagine what she was thinking by taking the rug in the first place!
