Hate the expresssion, but there really isn't another term that sums up how I feel at the moment. The horse that was to replace psycho ponio failed his vetting - or rather the vet stopped it after the 2nd stage. Horse ever so slightly lame and he is not sure whether this is because he was shoed only about an hour before his vetting! or its the sign of anything more sinister. So we are having to go back in a week or so to have him re-vetted to see whether he just needed time for the shoes to get bedded in properly. He was an absolute poppet whilst being pulled and pushed about and it just seems so unfair. I know you pay for the vetting for peace of mind and I know we're doing the right thing but part of me wanted to be bringing him home this weekend - soooooo disappointed, stressed and generally frazzled after today that I could do with a good weep.

Some of the best horses I've known have failed their vettings because they've not been 100% sound.

Really hope the re-vetting goes well for you

oh no how dissapointing. Well your right thats what vettings are for.. hopefully it was just to do with feeling a bit sore after farrier! Best of luck for next week hopefully it will be the result you want

Don't worry about it. My mare failed her 1st vetting at 8 yrs old for laminitis. We waited for it to get better, called the vet out to finish the vetting off and she is still being ridden at 26!! Will have ecerything corssed it goes well on the second vetting.

My lad failed his vetting as he was lame. His feet hadnt been touched for I dont know how long so you couldnt really blame the poor horse. I bought him any way and he is now my dream horse

Hope he passes vetting next week! have some (((hugs))) for now

I know how you feel , my potential horse failed his vetting on lameness in both hind legs, he was sooo perfect too, I could cry, back to the drawing board for me, but I keep my fingers crossed for the 2nd vetting.

Lots of good vibes for second vetting, understand how gutting it is fingers crossed for you.

hugs for now

my horse failed the first vetting for lameness, his feet were terrible. we bought him home though, and 2 months later we had him re-vetted. we have never looked back.

good luck!

Thanks for all the vibes and good wishes - I am going to stay positve and put it down to his new shoes. (why the owner did this I don't know, because he wasn't lame when we viewed him with his old ones on) Looking forward to getting the vet out to him again at the end of next week - when hopefully he will pass.
