Had to pop to Wellingborough this morning, driving along a busy dual carriageway there was a traffic jam caused by an accident fortunately this had slowed traffic. I noticed the car in the right hand lane had a JRT with his nose out the window which made me smile, jrt then leant further out the window causing me to ask my Hubby if it was on a lead as the window was right down. Next second there is a terrified looking jrt hanging by it's collar swinging alongside the car with the young girl desperately trying to haul it in. She succeeded thank god and thank god the traffic was slow but as we pulled up alongside, the driver who I assume was her mother was laughing her head off! I was fuming and I'm afraid gave them a piece of mind through the open window. Admittedly the girl looked horrified but that woman should not be allowed near am animal If that's her response :-(

Don't shout at me but biscuit travels without being secured, he either is in the front passenger seat with me holding on to him or he is on the back seat (he does have a seat belt harness thing then though)

All out windows are up apart from a tiny gap

Saw a dog nearly get its head cut off by a lorry once it was so close with its head out the window. Total idiots letting dogs do that.

You seen the road safety advert where the front passenger goes through the windsreen when they're hit from behind? And if the driver of your car does an emergency stop, same thing. Sorry to be harsh, but it's plain stupid to risk it.

Call me crazy, but I chose my car based on rear crumple space so if ever there is an accident, the dogs won't necessarily be hurt.

I have to say though that when I saw a Great Dane being driven down the road with his head out of the sunroof, I did have to laugh.

It is actually a legal requirement that dogs are secured within cars. I personally have no idea why you wouldn't want to. Once or twice I have had to have H on a seat in a car (he is usally secured behind a dog guard in the boot) and it gives me the heebie geebies!!!!

I keep trying to remember to buy him a car harness, just to have so he is secure on the rare occasions when he can't be in the boot.
