ABSOLUTELY SCANDALOUS

This service caused quite the controversy when it opened last year. There are several no-kill rescues in Manhattan that people should volunteer for, IMO, if they want a dog fix.

perhaps it would be a good idea if they could incorporate some rescue dogs but maybe dont let people know if there rescued (some people might be turned off by the idea of a rescue dog...maddness i know!!)

I can see why its a good idea - gives people a chance to see if there ready to get a dog before taking the plunge and realising there not ready and they dog ends up suffering.

maybe an option to buy the dog would be good.

Before me and my OH got a dog we used to go to the local greyhound rescue centre quite regularly and take a dog each out for a walk, this was completely free but you could make a donation if you wanted to. I think that's a better way to get a dog fix as such. We both lived at home at the time so it was the next best thing to actually getting a dog of our own. It's nice because the dogs get to go out for a wander and meet new people but always return to the same place, with the same people and have the same routine. Also generally you could only walk them for up to 30 mins before they were tired so if you wanted to walk longer you could go back and take out another dog that hadn't yet been walked.

My mother owns a hostel and we always had different people managing it, our late GSD was walked and fed by different people all the time, she loved it, she was literally anybody's pet.
It does depend on the dog though, I wouldn't be quite so confident with the two youngsters we have at the minute because they have much livelier temperaments and would probably take the 'pee' out of novices and need firmer handling.

Can see good and bad in it depending on motive and if any of the profits go back to less fortunate dogs! TBH the type of people paying this would probably look down on the average rescue, they tend to look for status/ fashion not unique!

Maybe I'll rent the thugs out for the day? No I'd have to give a refund and probably pay damages too!!!!
