Bit of a comp report but competition riders scare me so im sticking this in here hope u dont mind
So 7 months ago i brought a 4 yr old warmblood and since then ive been working with him towards this weekend... Milton keynes 3 day event!! I was majorily excited he felt ready scoring 66% in dressage and usually going double clear in recent ode's!! Hes now 5!
Unfortunatly it didnt go to plan
we had to trot up twice as they thought he had thickening of a tendon :/ but they passed him to compete and he felt fine so off to dressage, we were part of a team so did the dressage test twice in 2 days he scored 33.5 first time and 36.5 the second i was over the moon with that!!!!! I was nervous about the road and tracks and xc day but we got over it and had a ball on the steeplechase got to the 10 min box with a heart rate of 72!!! Woop passed that bit then on to xc and idiot mother decided to check the ditch for monsters for him!! Got back on and he jumped fab rest of the way round the course!! Happy happy happy!!!
Cooled him off and put him to bed, sorted myself out and went to check him... Found heat in that leg (the one they pulled me up on in the trot up) decided there and then to withdraw him before the sj no way was i going to risk it, plus we racked up some impressive penalties 284.5 to be exact!! bandaged him up for the night, got to him this morning to find 2 yes both front legs with rather badly bowed tendons
why did i run him? Stupid stupid stupid me. On site vet gave him some anti inflamitries today, got him home and hosed and bandaged him. I will be taking the day off work tomorrow to get him scanned and see whats going on or at least get my vet out if they are too swollen to scan
Im soo gutted that ive potentially broken him he is such a fab horse already i know i should think positive but im struggling atm after having my TB put to sleep 3 months ago due to torn suspensories. So please can my beautiful man have some of the famous hho vibes and fingers crossed its nothing too major. He took everything in his stride the past 4 days and im soo proud of him id love to do it all over again
