I am looking at these and wondered which was better and what would you recommend?

Primarily looking to save the condition of my new saddle. With adding comfort. Stickability I am not sure if I will like it if it "sticks" me to the saddle and I cannot move?

I read someone had the gel in and it left marks on their saddle which ruined it? This doesn't sound good? And also that the gel out is too sticky and you cannot even do rising trot as you are adhered to the saddle?

I am after a Medium in Black if anyone has one that might suit me?

I've got a medium brown gel in, so nearly! I got the gel in so it didn't damage my saddle and because the gel out can make you feel welded to the saddle. It didn't leave any marks on any of the saddles I tried it on.

I used a gel out one on my last saddle. It was primarily to protect the saddle (which it did very well), but it was also nice and comfy (I also liked how quickly it warmed up in winter). It was so comfy that I found it worthwhile using on a friends (really hard) saddle when I rode her horse for a while - and I'm usually too lazy for such faffing.
I didn't find it too sticky and could do rising trot fine. It did help with security in the saddle for those sharper moments.
Only thing I wouldn't recommend is riding in the rain in one - the little holes fill up with water. Seriously unpleasant. Although I must admit I'm becoming less inclined to ride in the rain these days anyway.

Glad to hear your's Leo didn't mark the saddle.

Good point McFluff about not riding in the rain, I can imagine each and every pocket filling up with water and squishing back at you!

So we have 1 vote each at the moment!

Any more thoughts?

I think I have the gel out on both my saddles. Is that the one that's sticky on the outside?

I got the first one primarily because it helped my coccyx problem last year. Decided that I absolutely love the thing and bought another for my other saddle because I'm too lazy to swap between them constantly. For the first few weeks, you sort of have to fling yourself away from the saddle when you dismount, as if you try to slide off, you end up kind of sticking on the way down.

Rode out on my friends horse a few weeks ago on a saddle with nothing on it and my coccyx is still suffering! Decided if I sit on anything now, the gel seat saver comes with me!

Reminds me of a crumpet. Big thumbs up from me (not because it reminds me of a crumpet..)

Yes, that sounds like the gel out one.

Good point about the dismounting - although you get used to it very quickly. Worse if you have a Dressage saddle with a deep seat!

I have the gel out one too, got it after a really stupid fall on my part when my horse spooked at a pheasant. I find it very comfy and am also curious to try a gel in one to see what the difference is. The gel out actually really helps me sit up and back a lot better and engage my seat more effectively, strange to think a saddle pad could have such an impact, but there you go! Good luck on finding one, have a look on ebay and gumtree, people are often selling them on there!

I used to use the gel in version and it did help with comfort, however I found it left marks on my saddle and a bit of a rubbery residue. I would exercise caution if you're thinking of trying one.

I have the gel out on DP's new saddle which was incredibly hard on my backside compared to his old one. I don't have any problem getting stuck on it when either rising trot or dismounting and it gives me a better seat position. Sharer rode in it and loved it so much I'm contemplating getting a black one for Baileys saddle.

OK we are now swinging in favour of a Gel Out seat saver. I would be really upset if I ruined my saddle with the gel and a sticky residue on my saddle. I don't intend taking it off in between rides to clean it either.

I have the gel out one and I love it. I got mine in the hope it would help with back pain and add a bit of security die to confidence issues, it's done both :)
I don't find it too sticky at all, definitely a recomend from me!!

I never had any marks on my saddle from it (gel out). I'm way too lazy to remove and clean every ride. Maybe once a month - if that!
