Acavallo gel pad- cutting straps

I use a gel out seat saver on my everyday saddle, but I’ve just bought a new dressage saddle and I really don’t want to dent the panels with those stupid straps.

Will it stay in place if I cut those straps off?

Or can anyone suggest an alternative? I really do need a seat saver because of coccyx issues.

My friend couldn't work out where the straps went so she cut hers off!! Pad stayed in place!

Mines a gel in but I cut off the straps and it's fine. They can compress the flocking in the saddle if you do manage to attach them.

I cut the straps of mine and it stayed in place fine, gel in on a dressage saddle.

yup, I got one caught on something and it snapped off and it was fine.

Oh that’s encouraging. They are so expensive to buy that I don’t want to maim it and then find the thing useless

Edited to add that I do wonder why they insist on those straps. They make a right mess of the panels.

I have a suede one, I cut the straps off years ago, no issues with it moving

Unless it's a mono or single flap saddle you can tuck the straps forwards in between the flaps.
