Acceptable dressage wear?

Going to first dressage show in a while. I do more showing now and my clothing is more of the tweed, canary jodhs, yellow shirt and red tie.

On the schedule it says any colour of jodhs/breeches are acceptable and so are brushing boots. I've also heard that it will be a 'smart casual' event probably meaning rain jacket acceptable if terrible weather.

Do you think I could get away with my canary stuff or would it be too loud? I have beige jodhs, whether or not they'd fit is another matter and I wouldn't have a lighter shirt to go with it. My tweed is also kind of matching to the canary with it's stripes.

What'd you think?
 
It sounds like an informal affair so would say you'd be fine in your canary show stuff.

There's always a variation no matter where you go or what discipline you do! I tend to go for beige jods, navy jacket, white shirt and stock, however, this weekend will be competing in my tweed and a yellow stock as it's getting cold and my tweed jacket is thicker!

same ^^. Sounds like it is more informal so you should be totally fine. My tweed jacket will also be coming out soon - no point being the trendiest in the warm up if you are about to fall off from the cold!

Bear in mind at a dressage show boots are not allowed. But if it states it on your schedule it must be very laid back....so wear what you like! I'd always go beige jods though.
 
Sounds fine to me. I've always been told its never incorrect to wear rat-catcher/tweed. I'm more of a hunting bod than DR though!
 
I would think if boots are allowed and any colour breeches/jodpurs are allowed and that it's a smart casual affair then you will be fine, infact I can see that there maybe some people not wearing jackets? At some off the informal showjumping shows round here it says no jackets required, so some people wear jackets, some in beige jodphurs and a smartosh jumper and others in just anything really!
 
I have slowly converted from navy, cream stock plaited TB dressage to tweed jacket, tie and (newly) hogged cob territory :D

By boots I'm assuming you mean jodhpur boots? Not worn them for a good few years !
 
No she means horse brushing boots! Not normally allowed so if the schedule says they're ok you can be sure it's fairly relaxed!

Have someone read your test out for you. Helps so much - I had one for a W&T test as otherwise I panic and forget how to ride because i'm concentrating too hard on where i'm going!
