I was wondering if anyone has any experience of accessory carpal fractures? My boy got battered by another horse 3 weeks ago and sustained a hairline fracture to the accessory carpal bone and to the radius. The radius had just healed from a bashing about 6 weeks before were the surface had sustained small cracks, this probably did him a favour as due to the amount of bone he laid down it could have been worse.
The facture to the carpal bone isnt big and can only been seen on certain x rays so its not a proper break or deep fracrure if you know what i mean.
At the moment he is on box rest and has started in hand grazing for about 15 mins leading up to an hour or 2 a day before the vet comes back at the begining of Oct.
I'm just looking for peoples experiences with this as its not something that i have come across. My main worry after getting him sound and back out in a field is that he may have lost flexion in the knee and become a dangly legged showjumper...
