Got big lad in Friday, he had an inch long cut about 7 inches above knee on inside of left fore, didn't look anything, hibiscrubbed it, salt water, antibacterial spray, ect. Sound not lame, so put him back out so he would walk about, sat lunch it has blown up above the knee, heat there and pussy cut, ozzing yellow puss . Trip to vets, antibiotics and bute for 5 days.
Lord know how he did it, looks like a kick and flies have feasted and infected it, weird place for a cut, so thankful it was not on the knee itself. He is on field rest anyway till physio seen him Friday. They say things come in threes, well wounded whats next! He has never has injuries but August he strained his back twisting over a jump ans now this silly cut. Get well soon my big softy boy.

awww the poor boy! I've had similar for the last few weeks!

2yr old lent over a fence to eat the long grass and managed to knock it down, and scratched himself all over the chest and front legs, and not sure if it happened at the same time or if he got kicked but he came in with a massively swollen hock on his back leg, was sound on it but had the vet out because of where it was and he was on anti b's for 5 days, which didn't work! then he got kicked and cut his front leg, like your boy it was just cut so cleaned it off then the next day it was swollen up, so vet came back again as the hock still wasn't down from the week before! so he had a steroid injection and more anti b's for 5 days.

the front has gone down and is healing up but the back is still swollen! so vet was back on friday for vacc's and I've now been given steroid tablets to give him, he needs 20 every other day, which I need to start on wednesday! and had to seperate him and the mare that kicked him as the vet thinks he's not getting enough rest and is twisting the hock when he's playing with her! so fingers x'd with all this and cold hosing it might be down by next week!!
