Doesn't look a vet job to me,looks quite clean and not deep. Keep it clean and on top of it and should heal up ok :)

Edited - I say this only because my lad is exactly the same. He comes in with a new war wound god knows how many times. Doesn't hoot about out and is in a flat post and rail secure safe field!!! Typical lol. I just have an endless supply of antiseptic cream and barrier gel XD

If it's on the inside of a back leg could it be a strike from his other leg to get a fly off or something? As we've had 2 of these at our yard recently, mine a few weeks ago and a friend's horse last week - both turned out to be small cuts which we think were probably self inflicted. And if it happened roughly the same time last year to your horse it might explain it? When my horse is very itchy he will rub one back leg (and hoof!) up and down the other very vigorously which makes go pale as always just waiting for him to catch himself with the opposing shoe!

Its like a slice, pretty clean cut ... Well it was deffo from barb wire fence last year, someone at the yard left him alone and he went crackers and it needed vet treatment last year, was rather deep ... but this time i suspect he done it on the fence yet again but its not very deep ... i really do hate barb wire :@

Erm...don't let your horse meet my horse. She might give him tips :(

With no exaggeration (others on here can confirm!) Star comes in with blood on her somewhere most days!

Agree with the others, he's been scraping flies off!

ETS, this week there has been a large lump on her quarters, she has been mounted and had a pretty nasty wound o her back from the mounter, she has kicked her chestnut clean off, cut and lump to front of cannon bone and she has done something to her muzzle which bled everywhere, og hes and for the furst time weeping fly bites.

When people move to the yard they laugh at the size of my first aid kit. A week later they accept it pretty well!

I agree, I wouldn't have called the vet either. Haha he sound just like my boy though, every summer he needs somthing sewn back on - I actually get a bit embassessed as he's just like clockwork. *touch wood* this is the first year he's stayed in tacked.
