Achievements of 2012 + Goals for 2013 :)

Haven't done much this year as I only got my horse in September.. but convincing my Dad to let me have him was a pretty big achievement and the best thing that's ever, and probably will ever happen to me!
2013 - hack confidently alone (he naps), jump a small course, go to our first show and hopefully go to the beach for my 18th birthday in the summer! Not big goals but should be good memories to have :)

Stuff Achived in 2012: B**ger all. Pregnancy, mine + injury, hers = lots of lunging and grooming...on the plus side I did teach her how to play football which was fun.
Stuff to Aim for in 2013: Enter some Interdressage comps, get her has fit as I can and hack out in the summer. Her previous home never hacked with her because she is a flighty TB, but at the grand old age of 25 I reckon she deserves some mooching about on the prairie...
Oh and try to stop worrying about every little thing!

2012 - competed with my daughter and small hairy at County level - wow that was a bit scary to begin with but really enjoyable. Competed at our "local" at Royal Windsor. Had a wonderful week with them at Equifest and qualified for all of the large showing society finals.

Bought my own mare in July!

2013 - more of the above but to bring 4yo hairy out again and do even better - we had our fair share of rossies but the colours were not usually of the red/blue type!! ;-)

Get out with my girlie - first aim is Windsor again in May - now that is going to be a huge achievement seeing as we cannot canter a circle yet!

Thanks! dafthoss rode him today and was dying laughing at him big bouncy uphill canter :D *irrationally proud of pony*

I hope L comes sound soon so you can hit the hounds (not literally!) :D What's this about a pic in "Horse"?

I responded to a thread on here and they contacted me for a phone interview. Now they want photos too. I'll post when I know when it is going to be published!

I moved yards and worked on my Horses fitness, my confidence grew over the summer and I began to canter again out hacking. I took her too a show to see if she would behave, but didn't enter anything.

I hope in 2013 she becomes fully sound and I can start schooling and jumping.

Here is what she looked like this time last year

2012 Achievements: Started to ride 5yo standardbred Ike who would only walk if being led back in March, he is now a happy boy who hacks alone or in company, listens to me (most of the time....), has jumped (the grand height of 2 tyres lol). As we don't have a school, I hack, but when I rode him in a school I was allowed to use once he cantered on the correct legs on each rein which did shock me a little!

OOOOH and he had a phobia of cows so bad that we had to tie him to a car to get him past them safely the very first time we encountered them-car did not come off well :(. Over the summer I worked with him and them. He will now go past, sometimes without looking at them, sometimes he hesitates and tries to spin, but he knows now that they and I mean him no harm so goes by in the end.

Goals for 2013: Get Murphy to put more weight on (I'm ashamed of how he looks with his rugs off as he should be a chunky cob), more work with Ike, he's a good little jumper when he jumps out of his field so focus him more with that. Get Ike to stand and not try to kill the farrier-work in progress. Get Sandy, Charlie and Pickles into a riding condition (goals set to me by YO haha)

2012 Achieved - would of been placed at an unaffliated ODE if I hadn't gone the wrong way :(
All then went wrong as he went lame for the summer then had regressed back when I got back competing till finally a 3rd SJ last week.

2013
To get him loading, if I can't get him loading better I need to look at what to do as he is too hard to load by myself and he has scared all the helpers off:(

2012 has been full of little achievements for me - I'm almost where I wanted to be when I bought my boy 18months ago...
After a bad fall when viewing (another horse!) I was terrified of riding my new lad, and this time last year I was still needing to be lead around the arena and cried when my friend made me trot! I gave myself the ultimatum that if I couldn't get things together, then I would be selling in the spring :(

We went to our first Intro test over the road in April, and came 1st in Intro and 4th in our second ever Prelim in Sepember.
On June 10th on our owniversary, I cantered him out of the arena for the first time (intentionally anyway!) with my dad waiting at the end of the 'corridor' with food to 'catch' in case I couldn't stop
I have cantered in company on a hack, and have hacked out by myself
I've jumped him, and took him on a horsey holiday in August where we went round the estate and cantered in company, went to Thursley and spent the day roaming at speed (where I fell off and then got back on and carried on instead of panicking), jumped a 1'9 course and had a posh dressage lesson with mirrors!

My lad is now exactly what I wanted and perfect for me - and it's all happened in the last few months :D

2013 aims:
Go on one of the long & fast hacks by myself
Get over 60% in a Novice test
Go to a (mini!) clear round
Go on a sponsored ride :)

I keep thinking I should take my lad hunting since he spent a couple of years hunting in Ireland before me, but think that may be more of a 2015 aim! (May take me that long to psych myself up for it!)

I love this thread - listing everything makes me so proud of what we've managed this year :D Bring on 2013!! :D

Wow well done for over coming your fears and achieving so much in just one year!!!!!!!! You sound like you have came on so much . well done! :D :D :D

Well, I have got the bloke onto a horse. Now I must continue my campaign to persuade him that we could have one between us:D

Mwahahahaaaaaa.....

I got my first share horse. something that I never thought would happen! sounds sad as most people own on here but was so close to giving up riding because riding schools really were not fun anymore. had him about 6 months now and couldnt be happier, went from riding 2 times a month to 2 times a week :D

2012 - got my gorgeous boy and got my confidence back! Together we have done lots of firsts for me: we have done a pleasure ride, jump cross, competed at showjumping starting at 2ft now confidently jumping courses of 2ft 6. Been on lots of lovely long hacks and a pub ride. We did do one dressage test but weren't very good as his flatwork is a work in progress :)

2013 my goals are to go to a hunt meet and maybe even hunt, do some cross country schooling and best of all do a beach ride! I also plan to do another prelim dressage test as his canter is now coming on nicely and he is working in a much more consistent outline. Above all I want to keep on enjoying my boy and to keep him healthy :)

After years of being chief groom and trailer driver I finally learned to ride over the summer of 2012. I learned by going out hacking with a friend several times a week. What an adventure it's been! Now I have a lovely safe mare on loan plus my daughter's two special Tbs, plus my friends horses, I am looking forward to more of the same in 2013. Daughter wants me to go on a fun ride but I'm happy just pottering round the Ridgeway with my lovely Maggie!

2012 had been a great year in terms of horses, not such a good one personally. I got made redundant from my job of 5 years which knocked me far a lot more than I realised, I really couldn't get over it for some reason, and now in a crappy minimum wage job isn't really helping my morale. To top it all off I managed to kill my car in floodwater yesterday :(

Anyway, what's kept me sane (relatively) has been the horses. I moved Saf and Mist up to 15 mins drive away, they had previously been in Kent (where I used to live). This was the best thing I could have done, especially as they moved to a really horsey area :D We had a great summer having a go at the local RC shows. Saf and I did a bit of everything, showing, working hunter, tiny bit of dressage, and loads of jumping! Plus we did a couple of 16 mile pleasure rides, had an unbelievably good time! Got a link to my 2012 compliation vid in my sig :)

So 2013 - Got lots planned. Firstly I need to get Saf hacking again, she had a scare when we hacked to the local hunter trials where she got colic, and hasn't wanted to leave the yard since, so we're working on that mostly. So I think I'm going to try to concentrate on dressage this year, and try to have more lessons, try to do more dressage comps (I can hack to Bluegates which is a nice dressage venue) and maybe borrow the trailer. Depending on how we're going, might have a stab at Trailblazers. I love it, haven't competed since I was a youngster, and now I have the bug, I adore it! Will probably do a bit of jumping and TREC so Saf doesn't get too bored of dressage LOL!

Also, I'm currently working on my BHS stages so I can do a bit of teaching, I have my Stage 1 booked, and aim to achieve as much as I can with the stages next year!

2012- sadly we said goodbye to our boy DJ :(

Positives-

I took Chloe out jumping and we got 2 clear rounds ( my first ever jumping a course of fences away from home!)

We got Amber AKA Bambi and so far, she's exceeding OH's expectations!

2013- just want to have fun with the nags and enjoy our time with them! :)
