I had a similar panic a few weeks ago. Came home from work and usually all dogs come hurtling down stairs to say hello but this time Indie didn't make an appearance. I looked outside, in the bed, everywhere I could think of, all the time calling and getting more panicky.
'Oh god she's died under the bushes/been stolen/escaped and been run over' etc etc. Then I heard a little whimper from the downstairs loo, where she must have gone to have drink of special toilet water and turned round shutting the door behind her

Sympathies to you Cala, for getting so scared, and since what happened to Dan, it's fully understandable that you thought something similar had happened again.

May I also suggest a collar with flashing lights, cow bell (maybe size small) and night vision goggles.

Glad to hear it ended well, from Sweden.

ooh night vision goggles, I would prefer those to a telescope any day.

Last year Jazmine vanished, oh it was awful I felt sick to my stomach. She had gone outside for a wee and I was watching her and for about a minute I came back into the kitchen. When I went back out she was nowhere to be seen. So I (calmly) came in and checked the house every second getting more and more panic stricken. Even thinking someone had come in the gate and stolen her, though the reality would be that Bailey would eat them before they got to Jazmine. I even called my son to see if he had come and taken her out. The fear was huge and my heart was pounding and I was crying my eyes out. It only took about 3 minutes for me to find her - well, Bailey did by going to the back fence. She was sitting outside it waiting to come back in, even though there were people out there she didn't go to them just sat waiting to be let back in. To this day I have no idea how she did it, the gate was bolted from the inside top and bottom and the only "gap" in the fence I could push open to about 5 inches. Jazmine is much bigger than 5 inches round!! I have a feeling Bailey pushed her out but I cant be sure

I let her back in and have never cried with such relief before. Immediately got someone round to fit me some very hardy fencing along the back!!
How horrible for it to be dark when you were looking Cala, so glad she was ok - and I have to ask WHY don't they bark out to you when they know you are frantically looking for them..!

Oh you poor thing Cala, I know just how you feel, and it had to be your old girlie too
crazy.gif
Sooooo glad you found her safe and well, and wondering what on earth her mam was up to
grin.gif
Bless them, they could just bark/whimper/or SOMETHING couldnt they

Typical lurcher to not make a sound with all the shouting going on. Mine are the same, let them out for the wee and they just stand at the door waiting for you. Not good if you get a phone call and forget about them
