is any one having problem with acorns i have 3 trees in the field. i was rideing the other day and he was twiching his head someone said to me it was the sun then it was the flys but he has not done it befor. the next day he was let on to the back field a hour later he was under the trees not even moveing when someone went to tuch im it was ears back and leave me alone, i rung the vets and he said it sounds like he eaton a toxic acorn.
 
all acorns are toxic to ponies...

kills a fair few animals every year...

oak trees should be cordoned off with leccy tape to stop horses from eating the acorns...
 
I have three oak trees in my fields. I don't understand the problem......you just fence them off during this time and rake up the acorns daily.

Horses love them and given a chance will gorge on them all day long.

In my experience that should be TALL poly posts too as Tweenie did once go over the shorter ones to get the acorns. Thankfully she was in a grazing muzzle which made it difficult to eat them. It's why I also rake them up daily now, just incase they get over any fencing again.
