Is anyone else having trouble with acorns!? My pony seems to have a thing for acorns, So getting slightly worried.
Its nothing to do with lack of grass as our grazing is amazing. All the fields have acorns in them.
I have tried fencing it off but he brakes through it to get them. Any suggestions on what to do?

My horse does that too! every Fing morning I have to put the fence back up!! makes me so angry!

seen some suggestions on using a leaf blower to suck them up! but they are dropping so quickly you'd need to be there 24/7 to catch each one!

can only suggest a bigger fence and more electric?

My mini has a taste for them & so does FLF.
Tiny Fuzzy is now shut in a small paddock in the daytime (currently longer time) the only one that has no access to acorns at all.
Overnight, she & FLF are together, tho TF is muzzled - and I scrape up all the acrons in that paddock that have fallen since the last night............

So far have taken over 20 large barrows of acorns out of 4 paddocks, and shed loads more to go but am now going to concentrate on the winter paddock & the other 2 they 'can' use in the next month :)

Bumper crop this year ! be very careful to fence off with electric fencing they are very toxic to the system. I have fenced off both paddocks & will be groveling around on my hands & knees scooping them up. Moving places next year soooooo looking forward to leaving behind the dam oak trees

Acorns are extremely toxic and the sheer weight of them in the stomach and intestines can cause colic. Fence off and clear them away as they will stay around for ages before they really rot away.

Yes! Discovered daughters pony loves them! I have 7 trees!! I've put them in the field that has one and the front paddock which has non and electric fenced off the bit that does have the tree. Trouble is the 2 fields that have all the trees have lots of grass and the two paddocks they are in have very little so I'm feeding hay. Never mind once most if them have dropped I'll suck them all up and then they can go in with some grass!
