my mare isnt acting herself.

On wednesday/thursday she was putting her top lip up and being quiet in her stable and also neva really eat anything and drank a bit. she was fine about 15 hrs later and was acting normal like her old self.

Then last nyt she was fine then came out to be lunge, after coming back into her stable she went quiet and didnt really want to eat her tea bt drank some water. she was putting her top lip up again n then went to back of her stable n rested. I just keeping an eye on her.

Has anyone else had this problem or any ideas wat it cud b

Thanks

Is the water she is drinking freezing cold? it could be very cold water in her stomach.

I would keep an eye on her and monitor very closely, as sound like very like v. mild colic

A mare at the yard my share pony is at had something similar.

She was standing in the middle of her stable, head down, lip curling and producing rumbly noises in her gullet. I thought she had a bit of choke or something. She was like that all through mucking out and then as I finished she poked her head over the stable door and ejected a great stream of green snot/hay. Nearly got me too!

5 minutes later she was back to normal, munching happily away. We put it down to bolting her food then having very cold water.

Is she being turned out on the frosted grass? Eating quantities of ice can cause colic. The turning up of the lip, plus not eating would be sounding alarm bells. I would get the vet to have a look.
