Don't be fooled by that face, if you look at the first pic, his tail is a blur...:D

Love it!! :D:D

Is the second pic perhaps because he has just realised that he will be carrying his own biscuits and by his calculations there is NO WAY he will fit enough in his backpack to survive Scafell?! ;)

Yes, he has asked me for a little cart like Burmese Mountain Dogs have:D

Oooh, I love it! Would fit right in with our colour scheme, too... :o How is the fit, is it quite stable? I don't suppose you'll be able to report until you've done some mileage, let us know how it goes. :)

We have had a little test walk in it. It is good when he's on the lead, but it slips a lot off the lead - but then as you've seen Henry does love a good hoon, and rarely runs in a straight line for more than 30 seconds! He seems very comfortable in it, and it is well balanced as a load - it just slips when he does his handbrake turns, and I'm not convinced any backpack would stand up too well to that tbh. The carry handle is also well positioned to be balanced in your hand when carrying it.

All in all I am quite pleased, if he had the sense to walk in a straight line it would be very good, and on the lead it acts well as a harness as long as the dog doesn't pull too much - obviously, when the dog pulls the backpack is pulled out of position. I'm confident it will serve us well on the hills where he does have to stay on the lead most of the time, after all.

Henry was right on the cusp of two sizes, with hindsight I think it would have been better to go for the smaller rather than larger of the sizes, but there we go.

WHy don't you admit that you are bone idle and you are going to be making him carry the weekly shop aswell as all your camping gear "some people should not have dog" I think it's pure abuse:(

If we got one of those Platypus drinking bottle thingies each, he could carry one on each side, and he could have one straw for the one with the water, and I could have the other one for the one with the gin and tonic:D

If you put food in it will he still walk or does he spin round to try and get it out??

I had a camelback drinks/rucksack thingy and filled it with cider :D:D

Haven't dared try food yet, I suspect he would manage to get the thing off if there was food in there:eek::rolleyes: He'll be limited to non-edible cargo for now:D

Someone at work bought it for my Secret Santa present - they obviously know me far too well :o Red wine works best and you can get a whole bottle in it...it's more than slightly obscene when it's full but by the time you've @rsed the bottle - you're back to normal size but pissed off your tits (literally!) :p

If you're going to Burghley and see a blonde with enormous tits and two backpacked Spangles looking a little tipsy then it is probably me taking this thread far too seriously :D:D

CC - I reckon you could backpack a couple of those wine boxes each side of one of your supersize dogs? Is this perhaps why you choose GSD's and not Spangles?! ;) :D

I just love that. Spanky could have done with one of those with the handle when we went scrambling in Wales recently. James couldn't put her down after he lifted down one rock as she'd locked her front legs round his shoulder!

Love the idea of loading the Spangle up with supplies too, do you think a cocker could cope with a little wicker picnic basket, complete with place settings for four? I like to be civilised even on the hills.

JDx

Listen to you trying to make out Henry can't walk in a straight line and does handbrake turns about the place - that's you post hike after you've "relieved" Henry of his backpack contents! :D

And what no little wooden barrel of brandy* round his neck?! (*wine/beer/whisky/gin..select favourite drink option here)

LMFAO - I want one!!! Altho i would be tempted to keep it full ;):D:D:D

Any as for Hen and his new look ... make sure you bring it down for Shoot, we can fill it with Sloe Gin & Pringles!! I'll get one for Kensa and she can carry her own birds thus leaveing both hands free for Sloe Gin & Pringle consumption LOL :D
