Actually, I am a little miffed....

Sure somewhere could be found to crash

Lou you can come and help with Woody this year.
grin.gif

You could be my warm-up jockey as hes learning to buck and enjoying it at the mo
smirk.gif
and has grown some more

Chocolate may not compete this year, it's just so expensive.
If we don't register him we may try on a ticket locally.
I would do Winkleigh on a ticket, because you already hire it I would think you will get in, you could also do Nutwell and anything locally un-affilliated.
It's sad but I think BE are going to find people just haven't the same cash this year.

I have a horse but im stuck in uni and he could sell at any point
frown.gif
but the closer it gets to the start of the season the more I want to be able to compete! Ive already been missing riding and competing so much and its going to be evern harder if i've still got him when the season gets underway
frown.gif

If anyway one is wanting help over easter or in the summer i'd be more than happy to help!
smile.gif

Wizoz you are not alone being miffed and being hit by the current economy...Red Hills Horse Trials, which is one of the last events to get qualified for Rolex at over here, has cancelled due to lack of entries
frown.gif

I can't afford to do any this year (did last years on tickets) and definitely can't afford members fees (well not on top of BSJA anyway
tongue.gif
)

Think I will be joining a RC and seeing what events I can do there instead
tongue.gif

i missed quite a few years of eventing because i just didn't have a suitable horse (too many of my old ones still around, and waiting for young ones to grow up), and although it was really frustrating, the sport is still there when you are able to pick it up again.
have you thought about trying local businesses for sponsorship? if you have a lorry or trailer and can put an ad down the side (still not sure about legal logistics of this), promote them locally etc. worth a try?

I had sponsorship from my boss for about 8 years, it was only £800 a year but it helped enormously. He has since stopped sponsoring me, tight git
smirk.gif
and I have tried getting local businesses to sponsor me but I don't actually have much to give back to them
frown.gif
other than a spot of advertising, they're not likely to get a return from me with the winnings stakes
smirk.gif

But hey ho.

Friendly_horses, nah, you can keep Woody ALLLLL for yourself
smirk.gif
, especially if he has a bouncy bottom, one horse with that is positively enough
wink.gif
tongue.gif
but thanks for the offer
smile.gif

HH, I may well do Winkleigh, Boo will certainly love it and it'll keep his head sane, hopefully
smirk.gif

I reckon we will see a decrease in entries and registrations this year with BE, it'll be interesting to see the stats at the end of the season.

I have registered but like Fran am a bit whibbly about what kind of performance we will be putting on... Problem is that I am highly competitive (even though I try desperately hard not to be) and I just know that we will never be of the standard to go out and win anything. So I am chanting a mantra that this is going to be fun for us.. I may never win but as long as we come home safe and sound and that we both enjoy it then sod it!

Although writing that I am still holding a hope that we will go out and storm round winning rosettes left right and centre
wink.gif
I can dream!

I think we are lucky in the SW as have some excellent unaff. Join a RC and they really do fill a gap with cheap lessons and then discounted entries!

There are Unaff ODEs at Nutwell, Pontispool, Stockland Lovell, Taunton Vale has a nice one near Blackdown Hills, and Winkleigh. I think Bickenhall might also have one. Entries are never more than £30!

Great, thanks for that Lec, you pointed me in the direction of the unaff at SL last year
smile.gif

When you hear about them, could you let me know please
smile.gif

I have joined and entered 2 events already but I'm panicking as my horse has had no work all week and she is no-where near being fit and ready to go
frown.gif

You've still got a few weeks left!
wink.gif

OMG, I can't believe that it's only a few weeks
shocked.gif
There is absolutely NO WAY that I would be ready to start, Aldon is usually the first for me but I haven't jumped a fence since last July! There is hope for you yet Boss
smile.gif

You will have to let me know how far you are willing to travel as Leyland Court also has a really nice unaff one. It would take you about 2 hrs from Oakhampton. It takes me an hour to get to Nutwell and then its another 30 mins further north from me. There are also ones at Larkhill but that might be a bit of a trek.
I also think Bicton might be doing a bit more this year - East Devon PC is the one to watch on that. Tiverton PC always has some really nice events as well.
Thinking about it and actually you will probably be pretty well covered to go eventing without membership fees and cheap entries.

Larkhill is 3 hrs + for me, Nutwell only takes an hour from here and am about 20 mins from Okehampton. Haven't heard of Leyland Court, where is that?

Thanks anyway, good suggestions.

Oh yeah, I forgot your OH was in the RAF, have you come across my mate yet? Do you remember?? Ian "Spiney" Norman. He is/was a pilot, met him when he was based at chivenor, loved him to bits but he was only 5ft tall and i'm about 10ft! Ok, that's an exaggeration but you catch my drift
wink.gif
tongue.gif

Hi from Spiney :) HNY

I'm in the same boat I've just discovered a love of eventing and now I've bloody brought a house so I can't justify the money this year, I'm going to do a few unaffs and hope my hard work means I get lots of bonus so I can enter a few on a ticket!

If anyone would like to come and watch me fall off at any events to get your BE fix (and maybe run around putting up my practice jumps too...) then please hollar! Silly blonde moments and amusement guaranteed.
