Has anyone had acupuncture performed on their horse?
My horse pulled/damaged his shoulder muscle last week. With diagnosis from vet and osteo/physio they think he’s damaged a muscle in his shoulder area, prob the shoulder blade.
Vet has recommended rest, slowly building up the muscle and acupuncture or if that does improve then shockwave if need be.
Any thoughts on this, or experiences? Thanks

My mare had this from the vet, she had muscle wastage over one shoulder, as a result of damage at the poll. She had to have two sessions, and then two years later another session as she seemed a bit stiff again. It was very effective and I would recommend it for horses. A friend who uses the same vet has had accupuncture on her gelding for unspecified lameness and has also had excellent results. I would give it a go if I were you

Do let me know how you go on if you decide to go ahead.

Mine has had acupuncture, for a strained muscle in his back. He had two treatments and it did work, he was much much better afterwards.
He fell asleep during the treatment!
