Ok, i have done my ad, now a how much, i have a price in mind, just want to see if i'm waaay off the mark!
The ad...

Reiziger is a stunning looking horse with fantastic bloodlines. He is a bay gelding KWPN by Flemmingh, rising 9yo, 16.1hh, competing novice/elem (last outing 25/07/07 – scoring 70% - Affiliated Elem HC) training medium at home.
He has a very trainable attitude to work, and three athletic, elastic paces. Always maintains fantastic rhythm! He is uncomplicated and willing. Established Leg Yield, Shoulder in, Travers, Renvers, Half Pass, ready to start flying changes. He shows much ability and scope, has excellent range of variation within the paces.
He is excellent in all respects. He lives in or out happily, no vices at all. Easy to do, you can forget he is around! He doesn’t need riding everyday. He is good to hack either alone or in company, great in traffic, and will canter out without concern. Excellent to load in either a trailer or a horsebox. I take him to shows on my own! Impeccable manners with the vet/farrier/dentist (basically anyone he comes into contact with).

Ideal YR horse, or someone wishing to take their dressage to the next level. This is a serious national level horse. He has low mileage, he has competed affiliated, but has never been registered – he also has a full service history. He has had one owner before me, and we have all his importation papers (imported as a 3yo) so is not going to be automatically allocated points. He was bred at the prestigious VDL stud in Holland – he has his own file full of documents and paperwork – photo’s as a foal. All vaccinations up to date. He passed a five stage vetting in Jul 07.

This is him...

Lots of pics here
Old video - but gives you an idea

I just watched the video - and would like to add that it's well old, and not the best, i have a much better one, but need to get it off the cam- laziness!

Thanks C_B I will fix the price thing tomo - i have to change it, it was kind of too vague! lol
CH -Thanks for the nice comments about the website, i made it myself! How is it advertising if i'm asking what kind of price people would expect to pay?
We don't sell lorry-loads of horses. I have never sold a medium level horse (without any points) before, so wondered what the general consensus was, thats all.
We are not out and out dealers, that is not what i do for a living!

If you're so proffessional why are you asking for help wording the advert? Or as asked before, is this a sneaky way of advertising on here?

I thought, from your first post, that you were about 15 and selling a teenagers cob or something...

P.S. I deliberately did not link directly to the website, so he could be judged on his own merits, and so as not to be seen to be advertising!

Hi, he has to have a full 5 stage for insurance (july '07) and another five stage for purchase when we bought him (jan '07).

I don't know why he has not been registered before

, that is why i don't really know what price to put him at, but we have his sheets aff HC, if he doesn't sell, then he will get registered but i think then you could ask more for him really - i thought for a YR, the fact that he has no points, might make him more saleable?

We originally provisionally sold him to America (a few months ago), but they pulled out last minute as the buyer and trainer had a "conflict of interest". But that is why he was not registered with us straight away as it is not an issue for them.

How much was he for sale for then?

I'm sorry but what? I never said I was SO professional?! I was not really asking for "help" with my advert, but i was interested in peoples opinions on Novice vs Nervous riders as it said in the title. I was meaning it a bit tounge in cheek, like, I can't really put this can I? I was just writing it out on word, I was in two minds whether to put it in the ad or not, I thought people who have had similar experiences might find it a bit funny! I'm sorry if this upset you.
I was just expecting replies like something Chestnut cob said, just light-hearted stuff like that.

I can't see what the real problem is, i have seen absolutely smashing eventing types on the how much pages? If i linked to the same photos in a webshots album would you all still be so aggressive?!

If you look on HorseQuest you can see horses like R go from anywhere from 5k all the way to 12k. Am I not allowed to be a normal person/poster and ask for advice now either?

I'm sorry that i have really got all your backs up?! I don't really know why, but i have tried to change my original post down and take the links off - so there are just two photos, but i can't seem to edit it?

The lady which was interested in buying him, was going to sell him in America for big bucks, she would have bought him IRO (£)10-11k I suspect she would want to sell him for anywhere between ($)40-60k. That is mostly guesswork on my part. The last horse she bought for £9k sold for $60k to a pro trainer, and was sold again for $125k. You can see pics of him in America on the website.

I was thinking of putting Reiziger up at 7.5 and taking around 7 for him, do you think this is fair?

your website and photos look pretty much proffesional?

You also forgot to put the bit about him being suitable for a novice but confident rider...

I did the whole website, and took every single photo myself!

Like I said in the previous post - i think mentioning it at all causes too much confusion. In the previous post someone (Chestnut Cob - i think) told me to be wary of what I say or how I word it, because it may put people off calling, I thought this was good advice and like i have already said, should someone enquire i will describe every last detail about him over the phone! If you can remember my original post, i actually said something like if you put novice ride, people have their own interpretation of what this means, and it may not correspond with mine. If someone phones up however, i can describe to the nth degree everything, so there is no confusion at all!

Katy would you have a problem if i put the photos in a webshots album and linked to that?
Like i said before i tried to take the links off, but i can't edit my post!

must we jump on the girl?
Horses are only worth what people will pay for them so put him at a price and if you dont get a response drop it love!!!

Not my type but id say £7k and if more then thats what you would pay for it

Hi Flintus thanks, thats exactly what i was thinking of putting him at!
grin.gif

It's just that i want to be in the right ball park that's all. I know you can drop the price, if there is no interest, but that means two sets of adverts (they're not free either) and I think it makes your horse look a bit dodgey when they drop in price
blush.gif
or that they were overpriced to start with. Just want to get it right!
Thanks

I'm not making him out to be anything? I was originally going to put something about the fact he IS suitable for a novice rider, but this can mean so many different things that i just left it out altogher. I'm not hiding anything!

Well I put my ponio the same horse in sig for £4.5K and had no respose dropped his price and has quite a few interested parties. I would never make a horse out to be something he is not, alot of people on here know flint and wouldnt touch him with a barge pole, I know one person who would snap him up! he hates schooling over fences but when in the ring he is a diff horse and won the last class I went in, by 24 seconds although I had not jumped him myself since Feb!!! I say £7 as that is the highest I would pay for ANY horse. I am not cheap but I know someone who lost their horse last week worth £60k and was not covered. HOME to me is ALWAYS priorty over money and I would give Flint away to the right person

Flint is lovely looking.
I am not making him out to be anything he isn't.
The reason I DID NOT PUT IT IN THE AD, is exactly that, because I DID NOT WANT PEOPLE TO THINK HE IS SOMETHING THAT HE ISN'T!
I am not a liar.
I am not just trying to run a free advert at all.
I was genuinely interested in peoples opinions - does no one else think that a horse like this, but not registered, is a little unusual (it is for me anyway)!
I wish I hadn't bothered.
I have asked for opinions on the price of my horse, all i have done is been picked apart, and made to feel like a criminal!!

oh tell everyone to go b ollocks!!! I wasnt insinuating but I was always tod to ignore the bad points, to me a horse like flint in that case would just be passed on.....IM looking for a new one and I wold consider yours but he is out my range!!! if you can put under your sig Flintus' mate then you will get on here!!! lol

people are just weary of new comers!! do what your doing and you will soon settle in!!!! and BTW the horse is Stunning from the pics!!!

Very hard to price seeing as he has no points and is not really proven in his tests.
I wouldnt use that video, he shows a lot of resistance in the lateral work.
He's a nice horse however and you should get 6.5-7.5k esp as he's safe

Don't feel like that I'll give you honest feedback from a buyer's point of view. I'm not a novice rider just novice at horse shopping so here goes!

When we first saw him advertised a few months ago my trainer seriously wanted me to look at him as he was reasonable for the price you were asking. However, not sure if it was the video but we felt the walk wasn't shown enough and wasn't as good as the other paces so wasn't worth a very long trip for us to see just him.

I think you must re do the video really. I get very few weekends off when I can also pin down somone to view horses with me and although there are loads of pics of him working, there are none showing off his conformation and have ruled out at least 30 horses now if they were a long way off, from the photos alone.

Please don't be offended, he looks lovely but the video doesn't do him justice and especially now winter is approaching, buyers are going to need to see something to tempt them. Personally I'd put him on the BD website and say he was 'suitable for ambitious ameteur who wants to go up the grades'. Hope that helps

Well Sam, although I havnt looked at the video, he looks rather impressive to me, especially at the price you are asking. I would have thought that an ad in H&H for £9-10k wouldnt be far off the mark, especially as he is working at Medium and doesnt have any querks.

You have every right to ask the forum for advice, that is what this forum is about - to help and encourage people, and it is exactly this which makes HHO a wonderful place to be, make friends and gain experience from the wealth of knowledge available here.

I wish you good luck in whatever you do with your boy.

When I first read your post my immediate reaction would be around £10k, although I agree with Boss's comments that he does show a bit of resistance in the lateral work but his canter looks lovely and expressive. I understand tho that the vid was just for an idea but I think it hinders rather than helps him!

i agree but i would still say around 10k as he does sound really nice.

I think 7.5k would be a good price. Its nice established horse but cant see his paces making it a worldbeater but Im not an expert!!! Dont get me wrong, his paces are fine but dont have the wow factor for me!

Does he do any jumping? Just another possibility as another string to his bow!! Not sure if you said anything in the ad but again it looks suspicious if you dont mention jumping, I think.

If I was looking for this type, I'd probably pay that for him.
Bearing in mind a 4 year old similar is going to cost about 5K in the current market then another 2.5k for what he is currently doing is good value. Much less and I would be suspicious!
