I do try and avoid it... However every few days I manage to "convince" myself that I need x/y/z product for my horse.

On the whole I generally avoid buying them, but occasionally I cave in to my cravings.

This week I think I should be getting a second nice thick saddlecloth so both my horses can have one, instead of having to share, but then I question myself, do I really need to spend £30 on a new saddlecloth when I've got a load of perfectly good ones at home

Investigate the difference between "want" and "need", :) every few days is a bit drastic. How much have you spent since christmas?

I don't look at magazines or trail round horsey shops unnecessarily and I have a notional budget per month for horse related expenditure and try not to bust it except for emergencies.

Well I have actually bought a new saddle for my new horse, but that was "need" rather than want. So taking that out of the equation, I've probably spent around £30 on a new bit and a horrid saddlecloth that I needed to have to go under horses old saddle

Yep defo have that addiction, especially for rugs. Went horsey shopping on wed to cheer myself up and bought stuff for my new ponio that doesn't arrive till next week so hoping rugs fit lol, wouldn't be so bad if she wasn't a hairy yetti that doesn't need any really! I might have to indulge in saddle pads now- i got one of those too and had to refrain very hard from a second diamante edged one that will look ridiculous but i really really need it you know!

Oh and meant to add- all purchases go straight in the tack room so hubby never sees them- luckily he doesn't see my statements!

Haha I've done this recently but in my defence that's because I've just bought a new horse and wanted him to have something nice and smart to travel home in. I'm ignoring the fact he hasn't even passed the vetting yet!

I have spent a bit of money on feed and supplements for one of my horses, as what the yard had in stock wasn't suitable. I would ideally not want to be purchasing all of these but most of it was "need" rather than want. The only extravagance I've purchased is a bottle of muscle builder as horse was really quite weak and needed a boost. So far seems to be working so money well spent ?

My horse has his own bank account and savings. The money paid by my sharer would get paid straight into B's account and I put in any spare cash as and when. When I fancy something new, it comes out of 'his' money :) guilt free shopping!

Trust me you do not have a problem and are not addicted.

Addicted is waiting for 3 sets of saddle cloths and matching ears from Eskadron Spring collection. I haven't owned a horse since the beginning of last year.....

I madly want the mustard matchy set from Lemeuix dispute not having anything rideable at present.......!

But soon I should have 2 or 3 in work and they can share so it's a good investment right??????

Mine only get essentials!

I hate matching sets so would never be tempted with anything like that.

I don't have the spare money to buy things that aren't needed :(

I seriously am addicted.. I've probably spent at the very, very least £1000 since Christmas..two new riding hats, new bp, new boots, show outfit, several matchy sets, couple of rugs...I've always had a bit of a shopping problem though.

Just got the elephant a brown bridle because his new saddle is brown. He will be needing a brown girth and leathers soon too :D

I was going to get him a cheapet fleece but dad decided he was going to.have the rambo Newmarket fleece instead as it's nicer :D

I am totally addicted. I am now 'trying' to tell myself that I DON'T need the new Turquoise and the new Blueberry saddle pads from Le Mieux. My chap has more saddle pads than I can shake a stick at. In my defence he's grey and they do get covered in white hairs after one use so I do have to have a lot to rotate :)

I also seem to have developed an addiction to brushing/competition boots. He also has FOUR bridles - a posh black one for stressage and a 'work' black one because his stressage saddle is black and a posh brown one for jumping as his jumping saddle's brown and a 'work' brown one.

Oh, I forgot, he has five fleeces/coolers, no, six counting the Le Mieux one !!

Ooops...LOL

Oh you DO need the torqoise and blueberry Deltaflyer! And also the Peacock if u don't have it as it's lovely.

I justify stuff that 4 out of my 5 are the same rug/saddlecloth/ear size so can share :D

There always used to be a thing that sales of lipstick go up in a recession - people can't afford big treats, but they can justify a tiny little lipstick. Saddlecloths and lovely grooming brushes are probably my equivalent.
Also have a bad rug habit. My justification (hah!) is that it takes time and trial and error to find which brand is cut best for each individual horse, so a certain amount of experimentation is inevitable, right? And that's, er, a valid reason for me to have bought 5 different summer sheets, 4 different m/w and 3 different l/w rugs in the last 15 months for my horse. Right?

I really want a couple of the Le Mieux saddle cloths. In particular - turquoise, mustard, peacock, teal, the lovely elephant grey one, and a nice cobalt blue one.

Sorry DF :o I have peacock, teal, plum and raspberry, just need the ears match.

And the mustard. And terracotta. And blueberry. and fuscia. Oo and the tweed......*gets overtaken by giddiness again*

Welcome Ellie. I am Red-1 and I have never before had matchy, but have a new horse and can see the peacock close contact jumping pad and the mustard dressage pad would suit him. :o

Jay had such sensitive skin he had to have full sheepskin, and that was OK as I was able to go the whole hog and order a custom one from Mr Bartl in Germany, with measurements to suit the unusual saddle he prefers.

I feel Sidney will have more usual skin construction, and we can play the colours :D

I am the worst for this! Since being stuck in here and now having access to the internet is not a good mix.

I've brought myself a new XC hat, the horses have got a new thermatex each, plus a few other bits and bobs. Oh and maybe I should admit they've all had new lightweights ordered too!! The horses don't need the new items and neither do I, but. Actually I don't have a but, I have a rug buying problem :D

I'm finding myself increasingly attracted to matchy matchy. Neither of my small ponies are ridden.....

I'm a bargain hunter, I did get £270 worth of stuff in my local tackshop for £20 recently which was a heady experience! I also wanted some pole pods but resisted and bought a stack of cheap potties to rest poles on instead

I do have a rule though that everything gets used, my Thermatex rugs are in regular use for example - nothing gets saved for 'best'

Last count I have in my Le Mieux collection:

Dressage - White; Grey; Teal

Close Contact: Denim; Teal; Peacock; Grey; Burgundy

I have the Denim ears and bandages.

Doesn't sound so bad when I list them like this therefore I believe I'm fully justified in getting the Turquoise and the Blueberry :) I'd rather like the blue tweed if that is something they're going to do. Also NEED a nice black dressage cut. I'd love the Raspberry but I don't know if I could do that to my boy LOL Oh, and I really like the Peacock Sheepskin lined CC Numhah in their new catalogue which landed on my doorstep yesterday.

I do have others though, a couple of Eskadron saddle pads.
