Adding condition but not sugar..

This is the first winter i've come through for a while, where i've been more than happy with my little horse's weight. Infact he'd got a little 'ribby' a few weeks ago and so i upped his hay and gave a little extra FF and Linseed in with his supplements.

It's actually been quite refreshing to be able to UP or DOWN his intake and see the results without worrying either one way or the other!
I'm one that like to have them come through winter on the lean side too ideally.

I hope everyone gets their horses where they need to be before Dr Green appears with a vengance!

Have you made sure your pony is upto date with her worming. My pony lost a lot of weight and got really ribby, despite being on an worming plan which included 2 tape wormers a year it turned out he had a severe tape worm infestation diagnosed by an elisa test. It is very easy to say horses and ponies have lost weight due to a hard winter and then try and feed them more conditioning feeds but in some cases there might be an underlying health problem involved.
