Morning!
smile.gif

Well what a lovely day I had yesterday!! Horse loaded fine, phew, my plaits stayed in placed albeit a bit of straw in them because he rolled when I went to the loo just before we were about to go little bugger!!
smirk.gif

It took 2 hours to get there but well worth it! I have never competed at Addington before and was impressed with the running of the show, on time etc... The "horse walk" was a little spooky for my boy but all good experience!

As we got off the box we were greet by Carthorse and her daughter as we walked through the box park!

It was great to meet up with you both and you did so well today, and have in fact done very well so far with your boy, you should be very proud!! He is a lovely boy and I wished I had seen you ride but Jlav told me how good you both looked!

Then I saw Jlav again....always good to meet up and chat to someone who is on your wavelength, "knows quite a thing or to " and will give honest opinions! Thanks for that chuck! I am going to concentrate more on forward forward and LOADS of transitions!! (I am also going to have to get myself fitter too!!)

Jlav obviously knows her stuff too as her friend came FIRST in the Novice with a whopping 77% !!! WOW!!! Glad you guys live a distance from me!!Very well done and enjoy your win... wait for the photos to appear!!

Well, me and Mister... ummmmmmmm... warmed up well, but not firing on all cylinders today.. both of us!! In the Novice he backed off my leg and felt very tired....we got 70% and placed =9th.... then the Elem. was 40 mins after.... I made a booboo and forgot half halt before medium... broke into canter..opps! he was tiring and began to fall behind the vertical we picked up a little half way through but not enough! Managed 64% and came 10th. He is going to have a couple of days playing in the field and a massage whilst I run round the fields trying to get my fitness levels higher!!
crazy.gif
All in all though ,had a good time, quite relaxed, glass of wine after and chatted to many people..then homeward bound, unplaited, my boy looked like he had an afro hair style, and I had a red mark round my forehead where my dye had run because I was soooooo hot..
blush.gif
. but nobody told me.........!! Friends eh??!!!!

Thankyou FinnMcCoul! I now have to make sure we are firing on all cylinders and we have a V8 engine going for the big one!!! As long as he does his best, and me of course!, I shall be happy... then again I should always be happy with him because he does try his hardest, just sometimes he gets tired too, like me and I must remember this! He is going to get plenty of sleep the night before our biggy!!

As am I!!!

Hiya, wasn't it a great day yesterday? Everybody was saying good things about the show and I reckon that by next year it will become even bigger and better. The standard was very high and hopefully the higher classes will be better suported next time.

Thanks for the compliments by the way, it's extremely rewarding when someone that you train does well and Jane works really hard at it. She thoroughly deserved her win as she rode a stonking test without a single mistake. It just goes to show how high the standard was there when the person who came 6th had 73%!!

I said in Carthorse's thread that I'll be sending loads of positive vibes to you for the Nationals and with a bit more energy and forwardness you and Mister will be beating the pants off the opposition.

By the way I never noticed any red marks on your forehead so probably not as obvious as you thought it was!

After reading your post I have a picture of your horse standing in the middle of a field, dozing in the sun whilst you run round and round the edge getting redder and redder whilst chanting to yourself 'I will be fitter for the Nationals. I will be fitter for the Nationals'
wink.gif
wink.gif

Once again best of luck there and don't wear youself out before you go!!

LOL!! Well maybe because my face was red with exhaustion you did not see it!!!! Just got my shorts on and off to have a "run"!!!...... well, fast walk, lope, shuffle....!!! tehe!!

Thanks for the vibes, you could chant too, voodoo... ANYTHING that will help please will be much appreciated!!!

I am going to read my sports psychology book and chill for a couple of days then, as I have not been able to afford a lesson for a month (tooth cost me blooming £420!!Ahhh!!) I am going to have one next week and the week after..then just go for it...and as I ride my test I will be thinking "arse, arse, arse move your blooming arse"!!!

HI
How is that lovely horse.
Rafi was very fidgety on the way home, it was a long day for him and he wears a sweetitch rug all the time so when he is without it I think his skin starts to feel funny after a while. He lives out at night so he has come in this morning and been asleep ever since.
We both loved yesterday and meeting you and your friends was a bonus. We loved Hazel .How many parts of the bridle did she learn and what a fit lady!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jlav was great and her friend Jane was a star even if she beat us into 2nd place in the music!
Tha standard was fantastic and the international indoor took our breath away.I never saw a red mark either.
Which day are you at the nationals ,I hope not Friday as we are doing Gatcombe on the coloured. We will come to watch if we can. Yes watch he doesn't curl round and overbend and keep him forward and you are going to win,win ,win. Then onward and upward ,he is a fab chap but you know that and are so humble.
Good luck but you won't need it

Carthorse, thanks!! My friend Hazel is a star, she doesn't know much about horses but is learning and loves being around them and is a fab helper when my hubby is not around.. she is the kind of friend everyone wants, and luckily understands me when I get stressed!!! Yep, for 60 she is rather a fit woman eh??!! Puts me to shame!
ooo.gif

I am on Saturday so do hope to see you!! I will be going up Friday day and staying over as I think it will be a 3 hour trip there.. Yuk!! Hate travelling!!
frown.gif

Good luck for Gatcombe and hope Rafi has recovered now! Was rather a long day but well worth it!

Thanks Bannanaman, Yes, I will think forward and be concentrating and definately will not be complacent for the biggy... I am off to chant Forward Forward Forward for two weeks.... hope they dont think I have lost it at work!!! Then again, I wonder if I had it to begin with???!!!

Spider's absolutely fine, thanks.
smile.gif

I haven't told him yet but he's off to be VERY lightly backed tomorrow.
shocked.gif
wink.gif

I used to do all my own and take them in for others too but I've no help at home any more.......just me and my days of foolhardiness are now well behind me!
grin.gif

Apart from when I worked on the TB stud and we broke the yearlings for racing, I've always backed at three then turned them away for the winter.
However the modern way with these big warmbloods seems to be to do them at two then turn them away unti three and restart them then.
So Spider has a shock in store tomorrow!!!

It really is only light backing and riding in straight lines though. I am very mindful of having a sound horse for the future.

Doubt I'll be able to get to Stoneleigh for the Sat now but will be with you in spirit and following your progress on the website with everything tightly crossed!

What a fantastic report FREESTYLER, it sounds like you had a wonderful experience for the memory banks! I have met Carthorse and what a smashing lady she is, so positive and full of encouragement. Jlav and Jane sound awe inspiring. I am available as a groupie if the job comes up
grin.gif

Very well done to you x

Carthorse, you lucky thing!! I am sure you will have great fun...
grin.gif
enjoy.... suppose to be a fab feeling.. to be free and floating in air so high......and no drugs!!!
smile.gif
That is the way to go I say!!
cool.gif
I am on in morn, hopefully early.. so you never know.. I will let you know.

Bannanaman, that is exciting! Spider.... ah... I shall remember now!! He is a cool dude...Yep, I believe in taking it slowly too... best to have a sound horse in older years. Some mature quicker than others, and sometimes when people say how old is your horse, I feel embarrassed to say 8, as it is automatically thought that at 8 your horse should be doing advance medium if not higher.
blush.gif
. but hey hoy..we are taking it easy.. I want my horse to last.. also I want to last too!!!tehe!!!
wink.gif

Weezy, you should meet up with us somewhere... we did have a blast!!!
grin.gif

JoC we had a great day...... dont forget your spacehopper for AF!!!!!!!!!
tongue.gif

Llwyncwyn, you can come and help me anyday... I pay at the end of the day... wine if we have a good day......but a bad day a moan, groan and analysis of my errors, kick up the butt for me who is normally the reason for errors then..... wine to console my stupidity and riding like an idiot!!!!!!!
blush.gif
laugh.gif

Jlav, No!
mad.gif
I want a groupie
ooo.gif
.... you dont need a groupie..you are too good.
smile.gif
.. I need one !!!!!!!!!

FREESTYLER, there's no disgrace in Mister being 8.

Mr T was 8 when I had got him, having done a seasons eventing and a few Riding Club events. That same year he won the Prelim and Rest Nov Nationals and went from that to PSG in six years. I'd never ridden above unafilliated Elementary before so it was the blind leading the blind a lot of the way!

It can be done, just look at what you've achieved so far.
smile.gif

Psst Freestyler, Patrick is 14 and doing elementary so there is absolutely no shame to having an 8 year old doing the same. (Patrick is now on his 2nd career having been my showing Connemara first).
I won't forget the spacehopper I promise pmsl
grin.gif

gosh 70%, and only 10th!! im so glad i didnt go and had a lesson instead!!!!!! Well done tho, a great score asusual! And well done in the elementary too, another great score!

Thankyou bannanman, you have given me inspiration now! In the beginning there were so many people trying to rush me and saying he should be doing medium and above etc... but as you can see although he may move well we still need to work on the basics and get a good foundation first, both of us!!
tongue.gif

Thanks PG, there were some WOW combinations there especially in the Novice, and especially Jane the winner on 77%, who is also a working gal which just goes to show if you work hard and want it you can achieve!
smile.gif

Jo C, thanks, I feel better now and anyone who asks my horses age I am going to tell them it is like asking a lady what her age is...unheard of! Tut!!!
