Addington manor closing down

I suppose people are getting a bit worried as so many equestrian centres (competition venues, livery yards, riding schools) are being targeted especially round here when they are in the greenbelt. Developers are arguing that existing structures: - Manege, storage barns, stables etc mean it is already developed and so doesn't count as loss of green belt. It's a bit of trend not a one off and in some cases they say there are no plans to close while simultaneously submitting plans for housing.

And this is my point as to why local people are fighting plans.

I quote Dianchi for saying it's too late, well no it's not. Permission has not been granted and first set of plans were refused outright. Permission would never be considered whilst it was a working center hence why shop was shut up so quickly.
If development is not allowed to change usage so easily, as has been the recent trend, then it may set an example that equestrian centers are not fair game.

Go along to planning meetings, makes a very interesting evening sometimes ;)

As for Addington, fantastic news as it's such a lovely venue. With such a large amount of centers shutting its no wonder people are edgy and let's face it, horsey people and gossip go hand in hand!

Hope the proprietors dont stress too much over rumours and instead take this thread as an indecation of how many people love Addington!
