Addington report

We went to Addington today in the hope of actually getting around the discovery.

We had three in the BN and two (including me) in the disco. We turned up at 9.30am and i have to say i was totally shocked at the number of people already don for each class. After some amusing rounds from our babies, it was time for the disco. I was 69th to go!! (there turned out to be almost 100 in the class!)

Fee warmed up really well, if a little unsettled with all the horses around, but once we started jumping she seemed OK.

I thought the course was well up to height and a little testing for a discovery.

But i was determined to get round and ride with a little more faith. The first fence was an oxer on four strides to some planks, set off and had the first fence down but managed to make the four strides to the planks. Three to four was a testing line but jumped through them fine, five was a double through which she felt awesome! Six came quickly and seven - an oxer off the corner even quicker. We got too deep and had the front rail. Eight was another testing line but somehow recovered to jump nine and ten (another double) before turning the corner up the home straight.

I couldn't quite get my balance and she was disunited around the corner, trying to get her to change was a mistake as we ran into the bottom of the fence and she stopped

Determined as i was, she had a small telling off and we set off again, somehow managing to be disunited to the same fence, but this time i sat quiet and she jumped out of it, to finish on a dog leg to the last.

A little quick and a little flat but finishing on 12 faults. Not too bad, me thinks....

Thanks guys!! I was SO determined to get round i perhaps went too much the other way... but at least i came out the other side this time.

Now just to get it somewhere inbetween!!

I totally know what you are saying!! I'm much more a hunting/XC style rider and if I'm a bit nervous I tend to kick on a bit too much!

Out next at Moulton this weekend, hoping it will be a less pressure and a bit more fun.....I HOPE there wont be a thousand people there and horribly hard courses...we'll see!!

Really glad you had a better comp this time. I guess your Di lesons have had a good effect!! You obviously had company as well rather than going on your own.

LOVE your face! You must have really clear, striking bone structure as your pics are always so clear - my face always looks as tho it is fighting gravity

Weezy - I dunno about bone structure but i totally agree with you on addington being pants these days. Its my favourite venue but today was beyond a joke. We left after 4pm and they had only just finished the disco - which was only the second class!!!

No there wont

normally get around 25-30 max in a class if lucky. Course will be encourageing as its an intro show.
I am available for fence putterupper as only have 1 horse in the CR and poss 80cm

I was there yesterday too!! Had a baby 5yr old horse in the BN and Disc, it was only his third BN and his first D, and i was pretty shocked at how big and wide they all were!!

Jumped well though with one pole and a stop at the second last like you, so was chuffed.

I was there yesterday. i was there alllllllllllllllllllllllll day! the discovery was packed! and i was 85th to go! lol.
was meant to stay for the newcomers but decided to jump 1.05 instead, otherwise i wouldnt have got home till 10!!!

Uuuuh yeah

haha.... two real baby horses (one has recently been brought over from holland) and one novice rider. I must admit, i was glad i wasn't riding, im too old for those sort of fun and games.
