Has anyone here competed there? Whats it like on a spooky scale of 1 being not too spooky and 10 being VERY spooky?

Think of taking Archie there for the Amateur Champs as we've qualified and its something to do!! Looks like it will be good fun aswell!!

I would say not spooky but then mine is so laid back, you could have a riot going on and she wouldn't notice.

But I do find the warm up gets very busy as they normally have 3 arenas outside running at the same time and everyone warming up in the same arena at the same time.

Hmmmmmm busy warmup might be an issue - but if hes naughty everyone normally scatters or leaves the warmup anyways

Thanks everyone - sounds like we might be ok there then.

Ive always wanted to compete there as it looks lovely - so now ive got my chance id really like to go.

It is busy but there is still plenty of room to warm up, I had plenty of room to 'gallop' mine round to wake her up a bit!

I would enter, its worth a shot at least for experience for Archie.

don't know place But i'm sure you'll be able to clear an arena very quickly

The words KICK ON spring to mind and you'll be fine as i didn't think archie was that bad BUT i know where your coming from. But more experence for him the better

I don't find Addington spooky at all; most horses I've had there haven't minded it. The new indoor could be spooky as it is very bright and there are flowers, but mine didn't seem to care. There is lots of space in the new outdoor warm up - in fact it is the best place to warm up on a big horse that I can think of! The indoor warm up isn't huge, but not too bad.

Go - it is lovely at Addington! And I might be able to come and see the lovely Archie!!!

I agree with MadMare, have never thought of it as spooky. Did my first affiliated comp there although horse isn't spooky really. Enter and good luck

Ive always wanted to do a music class, but i havent got any equipment for sorting out the music etc and there is no way id get it done in time for entries at the beginning of August.

Also i think it might give poor Archie heartfailure!!! One step at a time i think!!

I haven't competed there myself but been quite a few times as a groom and all horses have been very well behaved, even at the young horse stuff i don't remeber thinking there was an unuaual amount of spooking or people being thrown through the air!!! Go on it will be fun!

My mum and dad are both musicians and lately my Dad has been getting into writing music for dressage, so if you ever fancy having an original piece of music composed you know who to ask!

oooooo seriously - that would be fab!! When i get some spare time i will take you up on that

In fact my EDT has always said he would help me with my music aswell, as he does it for his wife.

Its just getting the time to fit it in, as im so busy competing (out every weekend now until october) that i hardly get time to breathe!!

To qualify for the Novice you have to get two scores over 64% in BD Qualifiers. Entries open on 1st August and its like AFs, you just send in your sheets with your entry. Entry forms you get online.

Yeh! Go!! I am!!! I am doing Novice and Elementary and hope to do one music too!! Should be good fun!! Next year they hope to make it an affilliated show, but for now you just have to get affilliated scores etc... as you have mentioned. The outdoor is lovely and indoor now... wow VERY POSH!!! Cant wait to ride there!! The warm up is large... well much larger than the Nationals at Solihull so should be no prob!!! Would be nice to meet you too!!

I love addington as a venue, its my local.
I dont find it spooky at all, although some find it a bit scary in the new indoor school because of all the windows, but thankfully the viewing gallary/food hall has moved.

There is plenty of space to warm up outside too, with 4 full size arenas plus the huge 90x90 arena.

LOL!! Dont be silly... !!! I am a nervous wreck at shows!! PLUS we all make mistakes... PLUS I have loads to work on still!!!! We shall see you there then eh!!! oh yeh.. PLUS your beasty is very smart and capable too!!!! It would be nice to catch up with you too! (after we have competed as like I say I am terrible beforehand!!)
