Before the recession, when I had cash to spare, I used to feed the following additives:

Equivit body builde
garli
salt
seaweed
cortaflex
Moody mare
veg oil
magnesium
Salt

Now I feed

Garlic

And have noticed no difference (thogh I would feed moody mare again, I just dont need too)

What do you feed, and do you think it works?

i give my natives winter glow/summer shine (equs herbs) they have a lovely shiny coat even when they havent been brushed for a while, they are both looking great especially the old guy

i used to give my big guy baileys outshine, but stopped after they went out for the summer, he did look well on it but i cant say i have noticed a big difference in his condition without it, he gets rosehips and seaweed to help with his crappy feet and they seem to be working

Garlic
Biotal Equine gold

Wouldn't be without Equine gold, its been the best thing to settle my mares stomach, that and a small amount of soaked speedi beet to keep sugar levels more even.

And now its so muddy she also has:

NAF's mudguard

I am loathe to change or stop using them as my horse, though a bit fat due to lack of work (darn weather) is looking so well I don't want to !

I have been feeding my boy Baileys Lo-Cal for 4 months now. I've never been that into supplements unless there's a specific reason to feed them and I started feeding it because he was on box rest, but his coat and feet are looking so much better since he's been on it so I am going to keep feeding it from now on!

Linseed oil. TBh I don't know if it makes that much difference, none of them ever look particuarly poor or unwell. But I like feeding it as I think esp in winter a bit of oil is good for them, also for its anti imflammatory properties which is good for all of them, but esp helpful for the oldies

My big ginger gets Global Herbs FlyFree during the summer as he really suffers with the flies, despite copius amounts of fly spray, cream and a rug. Really found it helped this year - much more chilled pony when turned out, and at competitions where it's not feasible to keep spraying / slarring product on.

Big grey gets Global Herbs MoveFree, and his marks have come down from 50something to 38 [combination of MoveFree and intensive sessions with Baydale, but she noticed a difference in his movement!].

Both are fed garlic.

Biotin - yes it works, really improves the hoof quality and you see the difference in 6 months or so.

Seaweed - yes it works, again you can see the difference in the coats and skin within a month, although the coat will also change colour after a few months too, great if your horses/ponies suffer from itchy skin or other skin problems.

Garlic - good for the skin, keep the flys at bay during summer, so much so that I never even had to use any fly spray on him

and the others were covered in them!

Naff Pink Powder - Yes is works, healthy gut healthy horse, once you start feed this they really seem to hold their weight well through winter.

Cider Vinegar - Yes I find it helps the joints, used to feed it all the time to my old TB and the difference was amazing, also increases the appetite, Mr M goes of his food when he's in if the mare next to him is in season.

Equimins Serenity - just for Mr M during spring/summer time as it takes the edge of him....well more than the edge to honest, while the brood mares are down, see clear difference in a few days, I was amazed how well it worked.

That's it.

Captain has :
Glucosimine- think it works, certainly he has never been lame *touch wood*
Colligone- def. works, his windsucking has nearly disappeared.
Relax me - def. works he is so chilled when usually at this time of year he gets tense.
Cornecruscine - great for his hooves.
Garlic.
Cod liver oil.

Fany:
Garlic.
Cod Liver oil.
Mud X - only just started.

Alot at the moment-

Both get Soya Oil- its given them a nice shine to their clipped coats.

Red gets NAF Devils Relief- at 21 he gets quite stiff in his hind legs on a morning and this has made an improvement.

Solo gets NAF Mud Guard- it does work.

They're both a bit 'down' and have a bit of a cough at the moment, so I'm using NAF EnerG (pro-pell equivalent) and NAF Respirator Boost. I'll try this for 1 week and if there is no improvement I'll be calling the vet.

Can you tell that I know our local NAF rep?

I don't feed any extras in the summer.
