Does any body have any experiance of using Adequan for tendon injuries?

If so what were your thoughts?

My lad is starting a course tomorrow having injured his superficial flexor tendon and was just wondering what if any difference people have felt it made?

Ive only used Adequan for arthritis. When my boy did his check & suspensory i asked about it and my vet said it was useless for tendon/ligament damage- sorry but IMO it sounds like you could be spending a lot of money for no improvement...

I am not looking to get him back into work any sooner...it will heal when it heals. The vet had said that it can help it to heal though, hence why the course has been started. with a view to aiding a fuller recovery rather than a quicker one.

Will see how it goes I guess.....It does seem to have mixed reviews.

i went through a months course in January for what my vet thought was arthritis turned out the injury was his annular lig.

Since i have spoken to several people who have also tried it and none of them have been able to say anything positive.

Hi, My horse also has a tendon injury. I have used Cartrophen for 4 weeks, weekly injections and he came sound after the fourth injection. He still has to field rest for 12 months. However, he also has problems with collateral ligaments.

I have been told by my vet to continue with cartrophen on a monthly injection, but to stop this for one month in 3 months time and then give Adequan for a month.

So if you decide to go ahead, I would be interested in your results. It doesnt appear to have much success though based on the experiences of people replying. My vet is adamant it is good for tendons though.

Good luck -
